weatherproof electrical crimp on connectors

e.g Fast on types

are the weatherproof connectors any better (less likely to corrode) than just crimping on a regular terminal and then using heat shrink tubing over it?

it is reuseable-
weather tight nodel also-

I used to sell Molex and when I toured the factory, I asked for a few samples of their "Perma-Seal" connectors. It's essentially a connector insulated with heat-shrink tubing. Not sure if you want to go through the trouble of ordering it from Mouser (my recommendation) or Newark but if you have the need for a solid connector, look no further.

Perma-Seal

If you're really OCD on weather-proof connectors, check out this link:

there is also crimp connectors made for underwater connections, I have used them on submergable well pump connections, they work great, when you crimp them they ooze out some kind of sealer. You can get them where they sell welll supplies.

Is this for the Vanagon starter? Would heat not be the bigger concern? Application info would be helpful.

I think they have a silicone grease in them.

I built all my boats with terminals made by Ancor(now marinco), tin plated
The trick is the inside of the insulator is coated with hot glue adhesive.
After you crimp, heat, then you have a fully sealed connection.
I have had things pull so hard that the ring of the terminal broke and the wire never pulled out of the crimp.

I think 3M makes them also (3M Scotchlock Terminals ) but I don't think they are tin plated.

I believe these are the connectors that come with the JWest headlight relay kit?

They are very good connectors.

I am curious yellow on the positive lead; but curious blue on the negative....

Now, I went to every FLAPS but NAPA in town and could not find any of the nice ones posted above; also went to a local electronics store and a good old-time hardware store - same.

BTW - Noble & Pico are really low-end brands.
