Forgot Our Anniversary....

Hubby, Steve, worked out of country for a year (plus training) and when he came home, took a job a few hours away. About 15 months for that one. He was home for a day or two of the week but that's really not enough time for the person that I've been married to for more than 20 years.

The out of town job is winding down and he is officially "moving" back home. Permanently. If there are any more out-of-town jobs, we're both going. Point not negotiable. Steve was originally coming home tomorrow, March 1st. He popped his head in the door tonight. In the process of us unloading the stuff from the work truck, we got into a minor squabble. Well, let's be honest here... I got into the squabble. I started it and kept it going.

Steve? He walked over to the cab of the truck and pulled out a bouquet of flowers for our anniversary. We were married on leap year day, but celebrate on the 28th in odd years. Yeah, he came home a day early for our anniversary and I entirely forgot.

I am SUCH an ass. But I'm a very, very lucky one. You know, I thought this only happened to guys!

But since you're married you're only admitting that to us, right?;)

herr_oberst 02-28-2013 07:40 PM

You're not an ass, you're embarrassed. Things piled up and needed to be released at the absolute very worst time.

It's happened to all of us, saints and sinners alike.

You're one of the best people on this board and we all know it. (And, hey! This is PPOT; nobody ever judges here, right?)

Happy anniversary, see you at the start of the STP!

Chalk one up for Steve! ;)

EDIT: Yes...what Oberst said Angela. You're a good person. Stuff happens. You talk it out. Makeup sex is also an option. :)

BeyGon 02-28-2013 07:58 PM

Yeah but if I was him I would have asked for favors. go for the guilt

Life if complicated. Forgiveness is key...as long as it does not repeat. Have a great weekend with your husband and move forward.

You got your ass kicked, lady. :D

Laneco 02-28-2013 08:19 PM

Definately got my ass kicked... By a well timed bouquet of flowers and an early arrival home. Not just kicked - DECIMATED!

So, here's to a long and true love. Plus some spicy make-up sex - LOL!

Thanks for being so nice you guys. I really needed it after my bad behavior. Herr Oberst - see ya at STP!

Hey! That's the guy's job! Forgetting an anniversary. Here's hoping the make up session was fantastic. And...Happy Anniversary.

So....here's a visual of Angela giving it to Steve - just before the flowers are presented.......

I forgot my wife's birthday!

I was commuting back and forth every Friday and Monday to CT from Maryland and was also really busy at work.

I just gooned it. No where to run to...

I sort of did that a couple of years ago. She opened her present early (Fedex Package) and so I gave it to her early. On the day of her birthday, I totally forgot...

bad Red-beard...

Angela,

You've got one in a million there. Hope the rest of the day went better for you.

About thirty years ago, my wife called up one of her best friends and her husband on the occasion of their first wedding anniversary. After the wished them both a "Happy Anniversary", there was a brief silence on the line and a wailed, "We forgot!"

Could happen to anyone.
(But not to me in 36 years.) ;)

Best
Les

Yeah! No worries Angela, Steve will still love you, even if you are going senile. :p

Hara-kiri knives are also available in PINK.

Oh Angela! I am so sorry I giggled at your little scenario but this is EXACTLY something I would do. I am horrible at remembering birthdays and anniversaries. Luckily, my ex didn't make a big deal of them so I never got caught. BUT, that being said, I realized that not celebrating these milestones wasn't good either. What a wonderful husband you have. And by the votes here, I don't think he would mind a little make up "something something" with all the extras. :) AND March 14th is coming up... You could go rock star on that. Good luck! And keep that man of yours. They are hard to find. Lucky woman.

On our first wedding anniersary, my wife was quite insistent it was on the 15th, right up until I go out the wedding certificate and showed her. It happens, you can make it up to him;

Anyone catch this part?;)

Funny stuff, Angela. I really thought it was just us that forgot this stuff.
I wonder if Steve was thinking " I bet the flowers will quiet her down a bit".

Maybe not in exactly those words.....
