thinking of switching email accounts what to use ?

For the longest time I have been using Earthlink as my email provider. Have always been happy, no problems and I'm comfortable with their format. But it's 5.95 a month and I'm not sure I want to continue with it. I also have a Yahoo and Gmail account ( both free ) that I setup in the past and use them from time to time. I would not say I am a heavy email user just use it to stay in touch with family and to communicate on Pelican and other auto forums. From time to time online purchasing also. Not sure why but I'm leaning towards using the Gmail as my primary account. I'm not looking to add another account into the mix so if your choice was Yahoo vs. Gmail which would you use ? Is one better than the other in regards to security ?

Outlook (former hotmail)

Is there still a free email service out there that lets you download to your own local email software (outlook, eudora etc.) and delete the server content after download?

I don't get a warm fuzzy having all my emails on a company servers somewhere. Google having access to all my emails makes me even less warm and fuzzy.

Outlook is a Microsoft product (including the webmail site now)...so take that for what it's worth.

Not sure. I know with Outlook, you can import your email from basically anywhere. After that, you could manually delete it, for sure. But then again...even when you delete something, it's never REALLY gone ;)
