Suggestions: Fabric (prefer waxed canvas) briefcase
Been traveling with a ( various actually) Lands End canvas attache for over 25 years. Its time for a new one.
Preferably a dual compartment, laptop padding, lightweight, rugged and semi formal ( must go from field, to offices to courts). Suggestions? I prefer it to be a non leather product ( accents ok ) since it scratches. Prefer waxed canvas but will consider ballistic nylon, etc. I travel internationally weekly so it must withstand heavy use and fit under an airplane seat. I appreciate suggestions! |
North Face makes a good one as well as Orvis canvas and leather trim.

BTW, trolley handle pocket and water repellant would be a nice addition!

Check osprey as well. I have a couple of osprey bags that I love

I wonder if Filson has these now? The modern day timber cruiser uses electronic devices & Filson knows both tight weave canvas and oiled canvas real well

My Tumi nylon laptop briefcase has endured 11 years of use so far. Still looks good, except the strap pad is kind of worn looking and the black metal zippers are getting shiny with wear. I would call it a fairly anonymous, low-key sort of bag. Not a lot of style points.

Filson are nice but iirc they are all flap top/ flap closure which is not airplane friendly ( when you are crouched trying to get some papers out during a flight). I'll check again.

Ok with the anonymous look. I prefer it actually!

Damn near everything you could want. Their Firewall Attache lasted me about 8 years before the zipper started to let go. Was my office for many years. Service wise - the bag was way out of warranty, they still gave me a credit for the original purchase price when I called to ask them about replacement parts. Did the same thing for my roller case. Replaced them both with newer models about a year ago for just a few bucks more than what I paid way back when. Pretty good cost per use if you ask me. |
J. W. Hulme - been carrying one just like this for 25 years. Needed new handles a couple of years ago. They fixed it no charge.
