What The Heck Is This?

Found it hooked up in my trunk...only one wire coming from the fuse box, loose wire not connected to anything. Tried lookinjg up the company and found nothing. Anyone know anything about it?

(my Son thinks its a tracking device...too obvious IMO)

Some kind of amp for the speakers?

slodave 03-03-2013 04:38 PM

Well, the thing that says Mallory on it is a buzzer.

That would be a small amp. The above is probably no more than 2"x2".

Red88Carrera 03-03-2013 04:39 PM

The Mallory device is a noise maker...

jwgn777 03-03-2013 04:42 PM

Why would you son think some one was tracking you? LOL LOL

M.D. Holloway 03-03-2013 04:44 PM

Not much of an amp...not hooked up either. Strange. Worth anything? Think I should hook it up?

GWN7 03-03-2013 04:45 PM

Yellow, green, black, 2 brown wires = trailer wireing. Red for power.

911SauCy 03-03-2013 04:45 PM

Obama-phone...

I wish someone cared enough to stalk me! I try my best to be noticed and relevent but at the end of the day I'm just another barking dawg...:(

fanaudical 03-03-2013 04:46 PM

Nothing in there suitable for use in a tracking device. What are the numbers on the chip?

Was this located in the front or rear of the car?

Couple of possibilities: Low battery alarm or back-up beeper.

jwgn777 03-03-2013 04:47 PM

Call the phone number on the part. That is a phone number or part number?

slodave 03-03-2013 04:48 PM

I.C.C. = IMPORT COMPLIANCE COMPONENTS, INC.

I don't think that company exists anymore. They had something to do with making imported cars compliant here.

One of the owners of I.C.C. is listed at a different address in Orange and still has something to do with imported cars. At current name is "Import Certification Lab, Inc."

The phone number is now an old age home.

Timer is a sensitive word here. LOL Yes it looks like a buzzer but why would it be in his trunk? Or did he mean truck.

M.D. Holloway 03-03-2013 04:56 PM

Yes, its an ROW, 1977. Prolly the worst of all years for a 911 but it is an ROW so no heat exchangers et al...still has the factory 5 blade and no I will not change it!

It was in the trunk, just hangin out minding its own bidness. I fixed my lid lift and decided to clean out the trunk and found it. one wire was still attached to the fuse box but nothing else...

wdfifteen 03-03-2013 05:07 PM

Take if off and see how your car runs. If it don't you gotcherself what they call an essential part and don't F^#k with it. Hook it bsck up. Don' forget to pry your way into the trunk in case it's an alarm. If it goes off while you're pryin' the trunk lid open you gotcherself an alarm.
If nothing happens try screw two of em on there. If you go faster, ya got yerself a gofaster, and now you got dual gofasters. Aint nothin' wrong with that. If nothing ever happens no matter what you do you go whatchacall a soupurbulis part.Take if off and feed it to the squirrels.

slodave 03-03-2013 05:08 PM

As Mike said, only one wire went into the fuse box and the rest were cut. It can't function with only one wire.

I say you take a 9V battery and try and get it to make a noise.

Is it ticking ?...... LOL...

M.D. Holloway 03-03-2013 05:21 PM

Jeezus Mark, that car makes so many strange noises its like its a bipolar on acid with an upset stomach... it would be tough to pin point anything ;)

A930Rocket 03-03-2013 05:27 PM

Remote door lock module? Looks very similar to mine.

I have an old truck like that.. ;)

Willem Fick 03-04-2013 12:45 AM

Yep, 555 timer and associated circuitry there and what seems to be a piezo-type buzzer (round whitish thing). Definitely not an amplifier, but rather (probably) a rudimentary warning buzzer of sorts. Definitely not crucial to your car's operation.

gacook 03-04-2013 10:50 AM

Well...I see it says the company is in Cali, but my phone number in my office at the military installation I work at (which deals mostly with Military Intel) is a 538 number...coincidence, or is your son on to something? (Kidding, of course, but serious about the phone number being the same as our numbers here on base)

Pulled headstud warning buzzer. ;)

craigster59 03-04-2013 11:14 AM

I'd have the Wife go out and start the car in the morning, you know, just to be on the safe side....

RWebb 03-04-2013 11:42 AM

it appears to be a warning device -- see if it is connected to the muffler bearing

likely warns of overheating, so be sure it is in good working order
