1973 was the only year with black horn grills. I used to have a pair of black rear bumperettes. Not the 1973 impact absorbing ones, but black anodized steel. I don't know what year they were available, or if they were a RoW part. You might find it on PET.

Nope..;.the horn grills were chromed pot metal. The bumperettes were chromed steel with the "wide" rubber trim. Good luck finding either in good condition...$$$ if you do. On the bright side, this is a good indication yours never suffered front end damage. Most body shops opt for the replacement black plastic horn grills. What I see in the pic looks original to me. A lot of people painted trim black back in the day...kind of a cheap mod.
I'd really suggest you join the early 911S registry. You'll need their help and advice if you plan on restoring this properly. Once you estimate the cost? Triple it! Looks like you have the "deep 6" wheels...perfect for '69. Be sitting down when you hear the cost of refinishing.

Looks correct to me. Bright trim on tail lights, S trim on bumpers. Front lights and grills should be bright as well. Front calipers are likely the early version of the alloy S caliper.
More pics! Sport seats? Yeah the Early S guys will eat this up. |

Luckier still, the car came with 5 of 'em! What do you bet that the date codes match?

I think some '72's had black horn grills and taillight trim as well in addition to '73. Maybe only Euro models. Mine has the original taillights I believe and the original horn grills for the fog lamps and both are black. In '69 though, I think everything was silver/chrome.

126coupe: please do not open any more threads on this subject matter. I think you scored a great early 911 -- but there is no need to go spammerific and create several threads about the car. Just keep it contained in your original thread you started here in OT. If you wish, I can move it to the 911 tech section, or keep it here -- makes no difference to me, really. BUT: just post updates in the original thread.
Thread closed. -Z-man.
