Shipping a TV?

Long story but my sister is giving me her new 50 " LCD TV. She lives in Az, I live in Ga. How can I ship this to me?? The original box is long gone. I don't mind spending a hundred or two as it was @ $1,600 new.

Make a run past Best Buy, Costco, or Sams club and you should have no problem of many who can't fit a tv in their car with the box. Once you get it, wrap it with plenty of bubble wrap and peanuts to fill in any dead space and shipping. Insure it and your good.

You can buy 50" LCDTVs all day long for <$700.

Think carefully before you spend hundreds to ship one. The "right" way to do it is to use one of these:

Or you can buy a cardboard box from a place like this:

What part of AZ? I have an extra bicycle box in the attic that might be about the right size.

U-Haul sells a box for packing HDTVs, it's kinda pricey but might work. (Less than $100 though.)

We have a new 50" Phillips flat screen for $550 from Walmart. I wouldn't even attempt to send it 1000 miles on a bumpy UPS truck or airline with uncaring handlers on the way. There isn't enough bubble wrap to limit the shock of it being dropped, or tipped over the way all boxes in transit do.

I agree it may be more hassle than it ends up being worth to ship it... But you guys do realize that the TV you buy locally was shipped in from somewhere right? It didn't magically appear on the shelf at Wal mart.

While that may be true those shippers have a vested interest in seeing it arrive undamaged.
I wouldn't worry so much about the dropping, I'd worry about the twisting it might see.

@Lee, She lives near Scottsdale and Paradise Valley Mall.

I was with her when she bought it in November and it was @$1600 with the surround sound setup as well. It's actually a 60" LED.

Amazon has it here. Amazon.com: Samsung UN60ES6500 60-Inch 1080p 120Hz 3D Slim LED HDTV (Black): Electronics

I'm willing to take a chance on shipping.

Close, but the bike box is too small. Height of the bike box is 34". The TV is 34.5".
