Lots of tool stories and I think its great. I was just thinking about that today while in the hospital waiting on Dad's doctor and had a long chit chat with him over a cup of terrible hospital coffee. Went in for chest pain, thank goodness he's ok, just indigestion. He's a stage 3 lung cancer survivor, going past 12 years cancer free. My father is a Jeweler who made pieces only by hand. no casting, nothing. I remember sitting on his lap while he was working on pieces as early as 2 years old. Then I was old enough to stand next to him when he worked and mess around with his files and sharp tools, digging them into the wood bench like all normal kids would do. I always remember him telling me not to do that because they can't be used once the tip is broken (even today, I don't dig out things that are stuck with tips of sharp files). I ended up working for him because I wanted to learn the lost art in the 12 grade until the first 3 years of college. Those were the best years I now noticed. Since his retirement, we moved all that stuff from his shop into his little workroom next to the garage where he can just fuzz around making things for family just to past time. A few years ago, my little 4 year old was hanging around when I needed to fix something with his tools at his bench. That little guy picked up the file and started to dig into the bench. I told him the same thing and that's when the flood of memories came right back with warmth. At the moment, I remember everything that happened that day from way back. Some things so small is just worth passing on down. Hopefully he will remember it one day. I told my father the very same story today and he chuckled with a little tear in his eye. That work bench is older then me and it will be in my living room someday
