Coat Checks
 

I was thinking about this the other day. In really cold places, you all have big coats and whatnot I guess. If you go out to a club or see a band at a show, what do you do with your coats? If you keep them with you, is the heater on lower than it would be?

Hey this was a legit question. I live in an area where we get 4 seasons. When I eat at a restaurant in a stop mall, they have 1 door. The cold blows in. In colder places they have 2 sets of doors to keep the draft out. I think about things like this.

I'm thinkin' that if "the South will Rise Again", there should be much more thought put into this possible strategic piece of info. Remember that the Russian Front was darn cold!
Seriously though, we have coat checks at the more trustworthy establishments with lovely young ladies hanging them up (possibly) giving you a chit, charging for that chit in some cases, and then expecting a tip. I usually tell them to plant their potatoes early next year.

I was at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston last week. They have a free coat check, no tipping allowed. Not mandatory, but I guess they don't want to encourage you to stuff a Matisse under your top coat and walk out.
