can bathroom exhaust fan exhaust into vent pipe ?

Our two bathrooms on the main floor do not have exhaust fans but they do each have a window, I guess that was OK back in 1986 when the house was built. Anyway today I waded through the fiberglass insulation and centered a fan in our master bath. Fished the wire through the wall life is good except where to vent to the outside ? I just had a new roof installed 4 weeks ago and I am NOT punching a hole through the roof. The way the soffit's are designed there is no way to install a soffit vent I just can't reach ( hard to explain ). But within about 6 ' of the new fan is a 4 " vent stack for the plumbing it is PVC. It would be very easy to drill a 3-4 " hole and install a saddle and I would be able to vent into that. In the future when I add a fan to the guest bath it also would be about a 6 ' run. Any problems doing this ?

IIRC, one of the functions of the vent is to allow sewer gasses to exit the system. So I'd say no.

I wouldn't. I could see a negative pressure in your house (clothes dryer, stove fan...) potentially pulling stack gas in.

Uh, no. When vent fan is off, sewer gas will enter the house. Illegal as all get out I would suspect.

OK so that is out, yes I could go out a gable but the run would be 30 ' plus. I'm getting up on a ladder tomorrow and see if I can use a soffit vent that is near by. What a pain in the butt !

A new roof is the perfect place to vent. Shingles are still pliable and easily replaceable if you screw up.
Roofers should have left you a partial bundle.

Go through the roof.

^^^ this.

And if I'm correct it has to be at least 4 horizontal ft from the vent stack.

It doesn't have to be that good of a connection to the soffit vent. You could fabricate something you can shove over to the soffit vent after connecting the hose. But do make sure the back draft function works.

IF you run 30' run as large a duct as you possibly can. The fan can only push so much, so far.

Milt how are you good of you to chime in The soffit vents on this house are a little different because there are several jogs to match the roof line. But as I studied this I think I can fit from the outside a vent and slide the 4 " pipe/elbow/whatever that I will have to fab. The fan has a back draft valve and I may add one in line in addition to the soffit vent for bathroom fans that Home Depot sells that also has two slats that close when the fan is not running. For the climate here that should be sufficient. By the way the bumpers are holding up great
