Do real race cars have radios?

This morning on my way into the school parking lot I pulled in behind a Miata, a "well set up" Miata, it had plastic body molding, a plastic duck tail, tow hooks, wide tires, and a roll bar, but inside it had a major radio, I could hear that trash hip hop from inside my closed up car, so it made me think, do race cars pack big sound?

My daughter had a kick-ass stereo in her '74 914/4 and used to blast the songs when doing auto-x events. Had the stereo going when she won the 2000 Parade auto-x if I remember correctly.

Some also leave in the horn as I did on my vintage 914-6 track car and I would honk at the corner workers on the warmup and cooldown laps!

This car does have a radio (for communications with the crew) and produced the most glorious sound rowing up and down the box that I have ever heard. Mid way through the race something happened to its exhaust and the sound just got bigger and more glorious.

Define "real race car". Does real race car drive on street regularly? Or at all? Totally subjective. For me a road car has a stereo. I am music lover though. And as Shakespeare once intimated, and I paraphrase, never trust a man not moved by music.... (no, no, engine music not same). Does one diet and starve to lose a few pounds for the track? For me, no music is a form of soul starvation....

If I had a car used only on the track it might be different. But one with dual use.... gotta have tunes.

I knew a guy had a 200mph drag car. Jerry Woods chassis. The thing was a bullet. It had a stereo system in it. He would sit in the staging lanes blasting his tunes, trying to freak out his competition with his high degree of cool.
