My First Robo Call Settlement...Auto Nation

My dad bought my 18 year old daughter a Mustang at a Auto Nation Ford dealer. The next day we get a ROBO call from A.N. saying we have a recall. I call and find out "it was a mistake ROBO call" I am pissed and talk to the manager and state I do not want anymore phone calls from A.N. Two months later we get another ROBO call from A.N. about another recall. This time I call and find out there is no recall, and I get the managers name, File a complaint with him, Call Ford and file a complaint with them. I can't believe a company would try to PISS off a customer like this. I write a demand letter to A.N. in the amount of $250 for their No Call List Violation and tell them it will be the full $1500 in court if they do not pay. 10 days later; I just went to the Mail box and I got a letter from A.N. With a check for $250. I am kinda hoping they call again.

I screen all calls and only answer ones I know.......not worth getting all pissed about it.

So you would screen out a call about a recall on your daughters car. I sure as heck would not.

I thought places with which you had done business in the past were exempt from the Do-Not-Call Registry.

I get as pissed as the OP about the number of robo calls I receive but, from what has been posted, I don't see a violation. He bought a car from them (business relationship), he gets called about a recall the next day. Where's the violation? He gets another call about a recall, two months later--still within the time frame of an established business relationship. Where's the violation? Yes, the recalls were mistakes, and were irritating. I see Auto Nation as not having to pay anything but chose to do so to keep up good customer relations and as compensation for their mistakes in issuing recall notices. Unless I am missing something, I don't see how they violated the Federal or Texas DNC regulations.

Once you tell them not to call then every call becomes a violation even if you have done business with them.

That's supposedly the truth. The thing is, if someone has my email I don't see anything wrong with 'transposing' a couple of numbers in my phone no. Like they check before closing any transaction?

FYI: here's the website with all the info:
https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx

I just checked my number and got this message emailed to me in seconds:
Quote:

Thank you for registering your phone number with the National Do Not Call Registry. You successfully registered your phone number ending in 6816 on July 05, 2003. Most telemarketers will be required to stop calling you 31 days from your registration date.

Visit https://www.donotcall.gov to register another number or file a complaint against someone violating the Registry.
PS - GOOD FOR YOU, Guy! :)

Good Going!

I always give out the fax number - fun if they call illegally.

If I ever make a list of the worst things that have happened to me in my life I don't expect any phone calls to be near the top.
But it would be a boring world if we were all alike.
