People of Los Angeles...
The passing lane is for passing. If you're not passing another car, you have no reason to be in the "passing" lane. Please move to the right when not in the act of passing. My time spent with you today suggests that many of you require a refresher on this concept. Consider this a public service. Thank you. That is all.

I witnessed a Prius in Pomona, or some other godawful place today, going 55MPH in the fast lane, completely oblivious to the world around them. It was amazing. Traffic was moving at 75.

And the far right lane is for merging on and off the freeway.

Oh good...another pet peeve thread. Traffic-theme this time.
![]() Game on! 10-4 on the passing lane. Your only recourse is to get air horns! And how about all those DOUCHEBAGS who don't know what a turn signal is? While we are at it.....especially here in Florida....how about pulling over & letting me by if you want to sight see - SNOW BIRDS! Oh and also - at these 4-way stops.....if I'm on the right and we get there the same time - you do know I have the right-of-way - you SELF-CENTERED TWITS! And when we are merging......don't stop your vehicle in front of me......try turning your fooking head around and using some peripheral vision, DOOFUSES! One more while we are at it...how about using the go pedal when the light changes.....after all it's the only shade of green we have....you JACKWAGON! And quit staring at me in your rear view mirror.....you'll likely go faster by looking AHEAD.....NITWITS! Anything I missed? ![]()

I've driven all over the U.S., and the further I get from big cities, the better people drive. I drive on the right and pass on the left...except to avoid rolling chicanes.

I hope this will make you feel better. A long tome ago, when we actually had to show up on a Sat. for traffic school. WE had to spill our guts on how we got busted. A woman said with anger that she was cited for holding up more then 10 cars down the mountain road. We all cheered and clapped until our hands hurt.

On our road trips, my wife and I refer to those as clusterfuchs, or clots.

Every morning out on the highway to work 6:15 AM, I pass a black Prius who is doing 15-20 MPH UNDER the speed limit.........or should I say Pious ! Do your hyper-miling somewhere else where it doesn't make a danger to everyone else on the road.

Human cholesterol...
My wife's daily driver is a well kept 85 Mercedes 300TD wagon which is kept in good tune as well so it is surprisingly peppy for a vintage diesel. That said it, well, is, er or can be smokey when you treat it just right. Now, the Prius tards otherwise known to us as "Smuggers" and a prius referred to as a "smugmobile" can be given a proper signal to vacate the front of the anger train. It is best to do this to the Prius in the fast lane at the head of the long column of frustrated drivers preferably on a slight uphill grade. Once in front of the Prius you feather the throttle until the engine loads up with unburned diesel causing it to bog slightly and the Merc starts to slow down. Then you drop the hammer which causes a nearly visually impenetrable cloud of black sooty Prius repellent to be dispensed thus creating the hint needed for them to change lanes. The 300td returns to the appropriate cruising speed and then changes lanes to clear out of the passing lane. All eyes on the rear view mirror during the event to catch the disgusted looks on the faces of the Prius driver/passenger. If they speed up to pass by and give their disdainful looks an appropriate Steve Mcqueen victory gesture can be returned if deemed necessary. Or an idiotic wave and smile are satisfactory as well. This acknowledges that you are aware of the horror they feel you have done an injustice to the environment. Juvenile.... Yes! But smogging smuggers is good for a few laughs and laughing keeps you young. Rare but treasured events. |

I agree about the left lane bandits. I hate that !
But I dont understand the derogatory comments about Prius drivers. My Frau drives a 2001 Prius. She is not "smug". She is just very frugal (cheap I would call it) and doesnt care anything about cars or performance. She just wants something reliable and cheap to drive. So far after 115,000 miles, the Prius has been just that. Cheap. Reliable. I find I have more problems with Harleys holding me up. Especially on narrow, winding canyon roads. And sometimes even on the freeway. Harleys DO NOT move out of the fast lane or give a wave by on the canyon roads. EDIT: One more thing. My Frau doesnt hold anyone up in the fast lane. She drives that Prius way faster than I ever would ! Last edited by Wilhelm; 04-06-2013 at 10:06 PM.. |

Oh man, don't get started with the Harley guys on our freeways or the car club guys who drive the same cars going two lanes wide at 60mph.

Prius drivers are just easy targets and usually have the best response to the smogmobile due to the majority of the owners feeling they are also doing good for the environment by owning the prius. As everyone knows human cholesterol comes in all sizes, shapes, and colors. No need for anyone to take internet comments too seriously especially on someone else's behalf. I have a few friends that own them and the main reasons for the purchase are very similar but I do not know how they drive them.
Is this a forum based on mechanized wasteful indulgence, competition, passion, insanity?? absolutely but that's "OK" because we like Porsches! It's just in our blood not to like the Prius based on its maytag reliability and good looks ![]() I'm sure that many of us here own both....... |

I offset her low carbon footprint when I take the old 71 911S with MFI out for a drive ![]() It has been cheap and reliable to own. I just replaced the original 12V battery about a month ago. I never heard of a battery lasting that long. And the brakes are original at 115,000 miles. Even the way my Frau drives it. Now of course when the Hybrid battery pack goes, the service rep at the dealer says thats about a $2500 bill. So there go the fuel cost savings. Service rep says based upon what he has seen, the Hybrid batt pack will go about 150K miles. We will see. Would my Frau and I buy another Prius ? Yes, absolutely. Different cars have different purposes. Its all good. as long as everyone remembers to check their mirrors so as not to be a left lane bandit ![]() |
