I spent some time volunteering at a high school recently, and was really surprised by a tone of cynicism and self-indulgence. It was really off-putting, almost spooky. Probably good kids, but there is an edge there I didn't like.

There was a piece on the radio the other day about young men's access to hard core porn, and how it affects their concepts of sexuality. The argument is that as young men are maturing, it distorts their concept of how sex is supposed to be... not just for them but for women too. It was really mind opening... 90% of high school boys have accessed porn, and nearly 70% watch it regularly (once a week). We're not talking Playboy here, but wide-open access to hard core porn, where they see gang-bangs, rough sex, dominance. The tone of that porn is very male-centric (obviously), but the problem lies in the fact that sex is portrayed as almost a "victory" over women. Esp all the gang-bang, CIM, COF stuff.

Would you want your daughters hopping in the sac with boys who have been raised on HC internet porn?

The rape, as you probably know if you read the article, happened in 2011. What was going on recently was the constant harassment from peers and "social media".
She was made to feel everything was her fault because she got drunk and passed out at a party two years ago.

My daughter gave testimony on behalf of a friend when she was in her teens, after a similar incident. There was no conviction, but at least that one got to court. It seems there were no charges laid at the time, but the investigation has been re-opened. Too late for this victim.

Teenage boys , in general, have an entitled mind set. I believe its their culture and the numerous negative influences today. Along with this is the lack of respect that most young boys have. Boys today think nothing about confronting adults in ways that I would have never done, whether its their parents or not. Just the other night this young man came to my house and was vehemently questioning my decisions on what I deemed best for my son, his friend. Guess what, he was not invited back ..by me.
To the point of being descendant of some violent group from the past...hog wash, you can't blame present day behavior on what some long lost folks did in 1500.(Blaming someone else for your behavior...may be part of todays problem)

I have 4 boys the oldest 21 and the youngest 15. We have worked hard to raise them correct not to be a burden on society but to a responsible productive citizens. AS much as i dislike Hillary Clinton and at the very moment of this statement disagreed with it..but it does hold some merit. (Sometimes) it does take a village to raise a kid. Example if I messed up when I was a kid word got back to my parents before I made it home.

Gentlemen are a dying breed, being replaced by the culture of "swag" and "attitude". Boys just aren't taught that a man has a code to live by any more, and it's getting watered down every day. Boys have swag, Men have class.

While the story is extremely tragic, there is absolutely no validity to the assertion that human behavior has changed over a short period of time, (or a long period). Rape has always happened and it's largely unreported according to most legit studies.

A certain percentage of men were rough/barbarians/criminals/etc. with no sense of right or wrong and no personal responsibility or conscience in 1945, 1845, 1745.... How many girls do you figure were raped and then shot in the head during the course of WW2? How about just raped? There are some amazingly ignorant people here, or maybe some of your brains shut down when you get emotional from reading a horrible news story like this. We have guys who were not even alive 40 or 50 years ago explaining some major shift in human nature and behavior that does not exist.

I recently watched the Oscar nominated documentary, "The Silent War", (as did the new SecDef), it's about the absolute epidemic of unreported rape of female service members in the U.S. military by their male cohorts and particularly superiors. Much of it happens in party situations but often when only the guy has been out drinking and comes back to the living quarters drunk.

It's tough to watch but I highly recommend it. It's about as unfunny as it gets.
