Any Dell Laptop experts in Orange County?

I'm not much of a whizz on laptops....I need some advice and help on upgrading an older, gently used laptop. I have parts from a Dell "Studio" and want to use them on a Dell 8600.....memory, maybe other items if possible.

PM me with contact information....

Thanks in advance.

Well a pelican poster offered me a good deal on a 8600 Dell.....looks like around an 05 build date. Mine appears to by an 07......I have lots more memory and RAM.

Can they be swapped between the two or is it best to find another Studio 1735 is better or refurbished shape and keep mine as a source of spare parts?

If I am unclear, send me a PM with a number and I can call you.....thanks

8600 uses DDR and max capacity is 2 GB RAM.

The 1735 uses DDR2, not interchangeable.

What's wrong with the 1735? New (not refurb) motherboards are available for those on Evil Bay for $59. That and the discrete video boards are usually the only things that go funky.

keyboard dead, dvd player dead, charging socket dead, overheating, flex in case causing pointer to move while typing, periodic crashes, fingerprint recog dead, touch pad shorting out......

I like the 1735......looking at picking up a refurb and then using the old one for a parts cache.....served me well....the coffee knocked over by the dog was the last straw.....

We are looking for something for my father-in-law and ran across this new Dell. At $299, it is probably not that much more than new parts for the old one:

Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop AMD E-450 1.65GHz Windows 7 Home Premium
