waterproof disconnect for plastic hose

I discovered the rear washer hose in my VW Vanagon was twisted and kinked (the cause of an odd lack of washer flow).

I'll need to buy some new hose and am thinking it might be smart to fit a disconnect into the junction (as the hose left is now too short to reach the washer bottle.

Anyone have ideas?

It is a thin-wall type hose, plastic, not rubber.

BTW - it was amazingly difficult to drill out rivets on the several trim panels that had to be removed just to access this area... never complain about Porsche engineers until you have seen the work of the idyuts at VW.

could you not just replace all of the hose with new hose? Have you tried a hardware store? Is the hose braided? There is a huge selection of refrigerator hose at Orchard Supply Hardware in California. The press fit new water fittings that they make for water filters etc work wonderfully.

replacing all of the hose with new hose requires major surgery - more trim panels and pulling the hose thru a tiny congested rubber boot linking the rear hatch with the rest of the unit body

water filters.... hmmm !

Youre just looking for a coupling, right? you can try Sharkbite type fittings. I use those for Pex tubing, I just dont know if you can get it that small

I don't think so - I've used Sharkbites on Cu plumbing pipe; never seen them on small flexible plastic

I may still have some IV drip tubing lying around, but don't think I have any couplers...

BTW - the cuprit is in the bottom of the pic - area had never been opened up - my guess is that heat & time caused the hose to shrink or something and created the kink

I have rolls of rubber washer tubing , and just use serrated plastic vacum line connectors to fuse them together. You can use a mini zip tie to make the connection tighter if you have to . Any decent auto parts store should have this stuff.
