AUGUSTA, Ga. — Carrying the weight of an entire continent on his back and hauling around the burden of expectation for years hasn't been easy at times for Adam Scott of Australia.

The burden is gone now.

Scott, 32, erased decades of Aussie heartbreak at the Masters, closing with a final-round 2-under 70, then defeating two-time major champion Angel Cabrera on the second hole of a playoff to capture his first major.

It is the first Masters title for Australia.

"Australia is a proud sporting nation," said Scott, who paid tribute to Greg Norman. "It's amazing that it came down to me."

Sometimes you have to look at the big picture. I know that is hard for those with small minds.

Not saying that is you, Paul.

GO AUSTRALIA! ;)

EDIT: OK you added the part about "Tiger" I will agree with that. ;)

Yep...thought I'd better 'splain my reasoning. (edit again) I mean, watching the TV liberal views, er..news, you'd think there were only 2 players entered...Tiger and the 14 year old Chinese kid.

Angel Cabrera seems like a pretty class act...

Was a great finish... good on ya mates!

I enjoyed the Masters and Adams win. There are always a few people that I wouldn't mind seeing win and he was one of them. Next is the US Open and I'll be there for every shot:)

Yeah was an awesome finish and yes Caberra was classy. Congrats to Adam. Very clutch. I felt horrible for him last year in the major he kinda choked on, (forgot, The Open?).

Fantastic win! Good for Adam..

Congratulations Adam and Australia. Adam made the shots when they counted. Cabrera showed great sportsmanship. It was a great finish. I was torn over who I wanted to pull it out.

The old guy missed his putt by an RCH.......very exciting finish with the rain and the two friends in it. Couple of lead changes down the back stretch and the 2 hole playoff.

I must admit, I don't watch golf on TV at all - but knew this was a big event and turned on the tele just as they were finishing regulation and about to head into the playoff holes. Perfect timing!

What struck me was the no-hesitation strokes by Cabrera....he just pretty much went at it. And was a damn good shot in doing so!

That putt nearly did go in....like you said Mike....a RCH shy of the hole.

The rain added drama and dimension as well as the finalists themselves.

It was also nice to see recognition provided to "The Great White Shark".

Australians are keen to tradition and very loyal to fellow countrymen. In this case - it was quite endearing.
