Flipping through an old Hot Rod magazine

(Red Alert! This thread is apropos of nothing!)

My buddy gave me some old car magazines...
...as I was flipping through one of 'em, an ad caught my eye:

(I wish the seller would have listed the price!)

.... some of us fossils will remember this as a pretty famous custom; so famous in fact that someone made a modern duplicate of it!

(Bonus view - while I was searching for photos I saw this on the google

Anyway, this probably isn't very interesting to anyone else, but I thought I'd go ahead and post it up. Just another unrelated thread.

There was a real cool story in one of the hot rodding mags about some guy that found Big Daddy Ed Roths Orbitron down in Mexico. The things was pretty much trashed, but he did a total resto on it.

I remember this. It was found parked by the side of the road near a strip club!

I got sucked into the hot rod scene at an early age (8 - 10 yrs. old - somewhere in there), because across the street, my neighbor, Rueben Vile, was building a lakester in his huge garage. I'd go over there at night and hang out & watch him build - just thrilled to hand him any tool he asked for.
I'd go downtown to the drug store after school & look through every hot rod mag on the shelf - marveling at the beauties.
Your post prompted me to Google on "T-Bodied Buzz Bomb"...and there it was - the pictorial story of one of the first hot rods I fell in love with back in the 50's.
A '27 T coupe, Olds "mill", and that gorgeous DeSoto grill.
.
The Buzz Bomb T and Rudy Heredia coupe-any connection - THE H.A.M.B.
