no Ducati recall on those wheels that I can remember. some owners have reported hardware that has loosened. I believe the hubs are mag & the rims are Akront alloy. I also believe those wheels are commanding a premium price in some circles these days.
that's an attractive Ducati. |
Do check for cracks on the upper frame tubes an inch or two from the headstock, they are still out there. Looks like a solid bike, hot compression and oil pressure tests will give you some info on engine condition. What is the oil consumption like?
I just put some marchesini mags on mine. 5-7lbs lighter per wheel, they really transform the 90's ducatis. http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...psd4766f91.jpg |

I've said this before in other threads, but your Monster is SICK. All business, and business is good. So, so well done.

Well the guy turned out to be a flake
Turns out that picture was taken BEFORE he let the bike drop and cracked the fairing, broke out the turnsignal and bent the fairing supports. You think he might have mentioned that in his ad.
He said he was getting it repaired. When I asked for details on the repair he sends me this email: "I feel like all I'm doing is answering emails and trying to sell stuff. Nothing is selling, nobody wants to pay a fair price for anything and I'm sick of it. I'm not a salesman...never have been. When I bought this bike, I went to look at it, the guy checked out my riding background and tossed me the keys. I went for a ride and half an hour later I was throwing down money and I couldn't stop giggling. I overpaid...and I've never regretted that once. This clinical, technical discussion I'm having online with people is completely missing the point of this bike." I think I will pass on this one. |
OEM fairings are near unobtainable. They're certainly no longer available from Ducati. I think I bought the last one from Bologna last fall, as a month later they had none left in inventory. Even the ones on ebay are often rashed. Turn signals are still available from Ducati. Fairing stays are available on ebay all the time.
These bikes were/are fairly common. Another one will come along sooner or later. They're a great sporting bike if you don't feel the need for the latest and greatest. And they're amongst the prettiest of sportbikes ever made, IMO. |
More than a flake, that guy is an outpatient. The Universe saved you from his pathologies.
Yes, more 900's are around/will show up. . No interest in this one? No surprise if it goes for well over $8K. . |

Item Title: Ducati : Supersport Winning bid: US $9,200.00 I would have looked good on that. :( |
I was going to drop a tooth up front but didn't want the brain damage of trying to get that sprocket off. I went up 3 in the rear with the AFAM quick change.
She's a terror now. . About a week into it, I lost the front end...didn't go down but it got my attention. Anymore, my m/c riding is running errands, like Costco runs, banking, & such. I turned my 1100 into a "Googer" bike for hauling chores, etc. Don't laugh. :D I get a lot of use out of it. Now not just a one-dimensional motard. Recently, I hauled six 1 gal. cans of Latex. . . http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1367428272.jpg . . PS The new Hyper has the 821cc water-cooled Testastretta 11 engine - nothing moves me about that except the 18,500 miles between service intervals. I'm a torque fiend and the new rig has 10 less ft. lbs. I'm keeping mine, too. Ride sanely, knucklehead. :D |

What do you see that tells you that? Always watch yourself when you hear/see, "this is an investment bike, should increase in value, with time." Shoot, you can say that about anything, really.

Yes it is dusty..... He has had it sitting for several years. I figured it was high or he would have sold it by now. He's a but off, but a mechanical genius, I'm sure it runs excellent.... He has 2 other ducs for sale right now, a paso and an Indiana

It would mean a lot to me if I knew the guy selling a classic Ducati, that he was a mechanical genius, & that it hadn't been terribly modified. I can understand your lust.

My comments about the pricing are only because I just bought one 6 months ago and looked around for quite a while. My riding buddy owns 3 SS/SPs and has bought and sold 2 others in the past year, he's what you might call a fan of those bikes. I suppose in April or May it's worth $4500 if it's really nice, and had bar ends on at least 2 sides. |
