How did you come up with the name Pelican Parts for the busniess?

I guess this is a question for Wayne , but anybody who knows can answer . I have wondered about this many times over the years. What is the significance of the Pelican ? Somewhat of an interesting name for a company that sells Porsche /German car parts.

Because "Porsche Parts" was not allowed by Porsche AG.

I think I remember hearing that a pelican flew over Wayne while he was near the water.

I have to admit when I first stumbled across this site years ago whilst looking for parts for my first p-car I thought it was a mistake and it was a site that sold giblets or something...

I tell my Issei Japanese friends that the name is Perry Can Parts. They go "oooh Pelican Parts. I go call them."

I asked this question over a year ago and essentially received the answers you have.

That's what I remember. He saw pelicans while thinking about a business name.

I think the name is excellent. Apple, Blackberry, Bluetooth, Elephant Racing ... all simple names that are unique and easy to remember. I get very annoyed at technology company names that all sound the same ending with "tronix" or starting with "advanced", I never can remember that stuff ...

It's a name that is easily remembered, Californian I guess (Florida?), and most people can spell it. Names like "European Specialties" are easily forgotten and Eurotrash brings up too much porn.

I believe he was in his 914 and decided to fix the odometer while waiting for something or someone. The name Pelican Parts had a good ring, the name flowed well.

Hmmm, "Advanced Pelicatronix" has a ring to it.

I'm pretty sure Wayne answered this once over on the tech forum, but I don't recall the answer.
