Seriously - I used to deal with a lot of them:
1) Make sure they are high tech: Computers, cameras, gps, etc - that is a lot of what is involved in doing the job today. 2) Make sure they have access to computer data bases that allow them to real really good searches. Some of the best ones will not only reveal where a person lives, but include their SS #, past addresses, employers, neighbors, etc. It can cost them up to $1,500 a year to subscribe to such a service. 3) Make sure they are licensed, bonded and insured. This covers you when they get sued for releasing information that is damaging to someone else. Or violating the civil rights of someone. 4) Some states license for both armed and unarmed licenses....It doesn't matter, but you don't want them to carry unless licensed to do so. 5) Most will work for local attorneys and insurance companies. Look there for referrals. G'luck. |
