We really enjoyed watching Southland... It is intense and I like how they show the ending first, then let the plots intertwine through the show to get back to the ending. First season was NBC? Got cancelled, then picked up by USA? TBS? I saw seasons 1 & 2... thought it was over. I you watching new episodes or are they re-running old ones again?

Absolutely the best and the season finale was really intense. Another great show dropped by one of the majors and fortunately picked up by cable.

The question is: is John Cooper dead?? Can't believe they would kill him off. Guess we will have to wait til next season to find out.

footnote: IMHO the only cop shows on TV that were the equal or maybe better than this were "Homicide: Life on the Streets" and "The Wire"

I agree that it is a great show. I told my son about a foot pursuit I had through an apartment complex in South Central LA in which I was nearly "clotheslined" by a clothesline, then they showed a similar situation in the Nickerson Gardens Housing Projects. They have some very good technical advisers. The closest show I've seen that depicts policework was "End of Watch." Especially the banter between the partners inside the patrol car as they handled calls.

I've never watched the show but have friends who work on it. It's a John Wells show (E.R.) and run by Chris Chulak who was a director and producer on E.R., Third Watch. etc. They shoot a lot of Steadicam in the "Cinema Verite" style and film a lot of practical locations in some sketchy parts of town. Security is a BIG thing for their locations, lots of gang infested neighborhoods that they shoot in.

I remember watching the first few episodes when it premiered and thought it was pretty good.

Does it still have the guy from The OC as a star? Ben Mckenzie? (why/how do I remember his name?!)

Thanks for this thread as I loved that show but had "lost track" of it with bouncing between networks and getting hooked on other shows. Missed the whole season! So I just downloaded the season from iTunes...

No season six

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I just read that Southland was cancelled…again.
TNT has made a BIG mistake.
