Big Game Animal Mounts.

Thought I'd share a few pics of a friend of mines shop wall of big game mounts.................40x60 foot shop, that's a 10 foot truck camper for scale, and he's a world wide animal hunter.........

I'm not a hunter myself, I even catch and release trout, but his shop is gorgeous with green painted beams and full sheet rock with his trophy mounts that he's traveled world wide to get.............I don't agree with it, but respect it at the same time.

I have no real issue with hunting, but I thought pumas were protected.
Which states allow hunting?

If he ONLY hunted horns and left ALL to waste...then and only then would I have a problem. Most mounts are representative of the species; not monsters. I'd say he respected the animals and presented them nicely. I just wonder why he didn't save me a few buff steaks! Well done in his pursuit; I'm sure he passed many.

Check wikipedia for Mountain Lion. It is not even close to being endangered. It is thriving and marked "least concern". It is hunted widely in most of the the Western US states. In CA it is treated like an endangered species via a ballot initiative from the 90s, but that's about it. AAMOF, hundreds are killed even in CA over the years on depredation permits, with the result that the animals are discarded like trash.

I sure hope to have a nicer trophy room than my garage. So far I am allowed to keep my stuff in the house! But I actually don't do stuffed anything. I either keep the hide, skull or a skull plate with horns. But I do see how guys get into the mounts. It is a nice way to keep a memory of a great trip and adventure. One day I hope to have a cabin where I can put my stuff into the proper setting.

What's with the bear? Why would someone want to kill stuff like this? Nice garage though, apart from the heads.

We really should add hunting to the PARF: PAHRF. It never fails, by post five some disrespectful asshat comes around spewing hate.

Last time I checked, this was a free country. If you don't like to hunt - don't. And get off your high horse, unless you are a vegan. Do remember where your chicken breast comes from ...

Unsubscribed.

so where do you think that grocery store meat comes from? im not a fan of the trophies in this thread. they could have been shot with a camera and just as "memorialized and honored."

but you're fooling yourself if you think that it's ok to eat meat from the grocery store but have an issue with this guys "trophies."

ive been vegan for over a year now...lost over 100lbs, reduced my blood pressure, feel tons better, both physically and mentally.

There was a show this weekend about Richard Childress and Dale Earnhardt. By the time I finished watching the show and listening about their exploits, I lost any respect I had for either. Childress has an 8th grade education and he proved it on camera.

And the way Childress described Earnhardt sneaking up on a tree mounted blind from behind and cracking off a round for grins and giggles told me the Dale had even less education.

Why would you scare off the game? Or shoot when there's no target? Anyway, Childress's home would make you sick, Mark.

It's not like you fell off the turnip truck. You knew what was coming when you brought up the subject of trophies. Did the original hunters in any society stuff and mount their kill?

I'm talking about peoples who needed the food.

Why was the head of an Indian on the old black and white TV screen test patterns?

The Indian Head test pattern was a televising test pattern that was introduced in 1939 by RCA of Harrison, New Jersey as part of the RCA TK-1 monoscope.

I think it was in keeping with our Indians on the Buffalo nickel. Respect, appreciation of the wind and the spirit, life energy. Plus the sharp detail of the head-dress made for a sharp focusing tool.

The models for the Buffalo nickel were:

Iron Tail, Oglala Sioux Chief.
Two Moons , Cheyenne Chief.
and Big Tree, Kiowa Chief.

People who were strong, followed rivers or used stars to navigate, hunted and fished, earned respect and honor amongst their people, and survived by putting food on the table.

You take only what you can use..............the rest of you arm-chair keyboard Starbucks sipping yuppie eco warriors can go get a Tofu burger in your Electric Car for all I care, honestly I don't care, I have bigger things in life to do...

I only wanted to share a friends passion, not get judged by it.........hellll I don't even hunt nor have ever shot an animal.

now for a treat, I'll take everyone out to your favorite fake meat Mc Ribs or glued together Mc DoYouReallyThinkThatsChicken Mc Nuggets, my treat.
