What Browser?

What browser do you use and why do you like it better than others that you have tried? Do you use more than on?

I still use Safari.

Safari on my iPad, IE on my laptop. IE just seems simple and it is what I have used for a long time.

On my ipad, I use Atomic browser. It's got some nice features. (I've tried several)

On my Android, I like Maxthon and have just recently started using Dolphin. (I've tried several)

On PCs I use Firefox. I've tried most of the big ones. Except for one period of about 6 months way back in the 90s, I've always used firefox (if you consider that Firefox is a descendent of Netscape). I keep IE around because every once in a while, Netscape won't pull up a page correctly. That's probably mostly because of the plugins that i have loaded into it which also make it much faster by trimming all of the crap out of most web pages. It also can occasionally make it a pain. I use adblock plus and noscript as well as a few other plugins that I find useful.

Recently switched to google Chrome from IE for both laptop and desktop. No issues and I definitely like it better than IE. It seems to be faster and is easier to move around using different tabs.

Firefox or Chrome. Occasionally links or e-links, or lynx. And I've been known to telnet to port 80 and issue GET requests.

Chrome but don't enable the browser syncing.

Sounds cool but it's a performance hit and I suspect it's the cause of a Mac Mail issue where your accounts get bumped offline when waking from sleep.

Safari on iPad and iPhone. Chrome on laptop. Forced to use IE at work, hate it

I still use IE, along with Microsoft Security Essentials. I'm not certain other browsers are as secure as what I have.

I use Opera

Firefox had a lagging issue when scrolling that I could never fix, and IE seems to be slower and more finicky.

All modern browsers are pretty good at security but Chrome still beats IE.

IE and Windows still have a very spotty security record...

It's interesting that I got the first notification to a reply to this thread and nothing after that. So I looked and there were 11 replies.

I was getting a complex before that.

I've used Chrome, Firefox and Safari. I really don't notice much difference.

Adding adblock and conscript to Firefox really speeds it upon most sites, but they (noscript especially) well require more input from you.

Chrome.

Chrome has only 2 deficiencies:

1. it will not permanently keep bookmarks visible for me while I am browsing - I have my fingers in a lot of pies and with a lot of bookmarks this is a big problem for me, periodically causing me to revert to Firefox

2. on the mac it seems to cause memory leaks (tho some 'mac expurts' have told me it doesn't??)

You want your bookmarks in a side bar?

Monkey, what is chrome synchronizing? Can it be turned off if it's enabled?

Not sure what you are trying to say in point 1.

Why do you think you are getting memory leaks?

Milt,

If you have multiple devices running chrome you can keep open windows/tabs synced between them, like a desktop and your smartphone, they both show the same windows/tabs if you enable it.

It's actually really useful but not quite ready for prime time

Thank you, Scott. I found the synch apps in the tool box. I checked "ask me" and left the rest alone. We'll see what happens. But, I don't have a network and my iphone is connected now and then.
