Perhaps Tesla needs to look at THIS battery?
The background: Before I retired in 2002, I always wore nice wrist watches to work. When we began construction on our present home in 1987, I knew I would be doing some things around the work site that might get a nice watch banged up. So I purchased a Casio watch at Service Merchandise Co. It probably cost less than $15 back then - I don’t recall what I paid. Plastic case – plastic band; an eventual throwaway.
When we finally moved into the home in 1988 and I got my shop set up, with tools hanging on wall mounted pegboards, I one day took off this watch, and hung it on a peg. I have never worn it since. With no wall clock in the garage it was the timepiece I would occasionally refer to while out in the garage. Again – it was hung up, sometime in mid to late 1988. Present day: Twenty five years later. The photo speaks for itself. ![]() Every few years I would see it hanging there and sometimes re-set it to correspond to daylight saving time. But many years - it never got touched. The battery is the original! Has anyone ever heard of a battery lasting twenty-five friggin’ years???

Never had one that lasted that long, but several that lasted for years. A couple I gave away because I just bought another new one. I have one I also wear outside and in the garage. I actually don't remember how old it is.

Casio must have had a run on nuclear powered F-28W watches! I got mine in the late 80's as well... I ground off the watch band hooks and use it as a pocket watch....
I remember what I paid.... $11. (in NH, no sales tax!) -bob ![]() |

I have a promotional stopwatch from the late '80s that Bloomberg gave away. I am amazed that it still works also. Back in 1976-77 my friend in high school would always have a prototype watch. His father was a chemical engineer that was one of their battery designers. I guess he was pretty good. I have to see if I can get in touch with him after all these years.

Neat.
I have a Casio solar w/ atomic timed. Perfect everyday. Classic analog face but has also has the goodies (world times / chrono, etc.) in a small digital window. $18 special that has become a fave watch. Anyhow regarding car batts. Check and scroll down the list of these out from Braille. The racer versions are crazy light and $. Braille Battery USA      Lighter • Stronger • Faster -
