Dick Trickle has left the building

Shame, he seemed like a jovial sort.

Dick Trickle dead at 71, according to report

I figured him to be one tough SOB, you would have to be going through school with every roll call, being Trickle, Dick..
R.I.P.:(

Had a cigarette lighter in all his race cars so he could smoke during cautions.

ESPN sports-news anchors would always tell you where Dick Trickle finished in that days' race.

RIP Dick. You were part of my interpretation of Nascar's glory days.

Heard this on the radio while working. Unbelievable and very sad. :(

Condolences to family and friends.

URY914 05-16-2013 04:25 PM

The Trickle has stopped.

Probably Trickle's best honorarium was the character Cole Trickle in "Days of Thunder."
The character was not DT but rather said to be Tim Richmond. Still, of all the names available....

One of Wisconsin's best. Won over 1200 feature races. Great driver

Not a big NASCAR fan, but everybody has heard of Dick Trickle. Kind of an Iron Man sort of vibe from the guy, RIP sir.

Absolutely. Having grown up around Midwest short tracks, its hard to understate how dominant he could be on a half mile early in his career. Against anyone.

People who knew nothing about his history before NASCAR made the same easy riff on his name, but that does a disservice to a really gifted driver.

Plus, can anyone imagine Brad Keselowski firing up a Winston during a caution at Talledega?

RIP, Dick.

Keselowski took out his iPhone and sent tweets during a red flag at Daytona. Got in trouble for it too.

So it looks like he shot himself. You always wonder why a person of that character would take his own life? Possible major medical issues looming?

I can see where medical issues could bring someone to do it, they can be very frustrating.
Think Peter Gregg..:(

constant unyielding pain we all would do it. My first kidney stones....the thought crosses your mind.... believe me.

I met Dick a few times all the stories are true about him......Its how men like him regain control.........you might even call it courage.

Yep, his brother made a statement that this was the cause.
