Saw this on the news. Don't know if the driver is on this board, but best wishes for a speedy recovery. NY man stable after destroying classic Porsche 911 in Route 16 wreck | New Hampshire NEWS07

Strike another long-hood from the list.

Bill Douglas 05-19-2013 12:34 PM

Yes, I hope he wasn't one of our guys.

Flieger 05-19-2013 12:36 PM

Hope the guy turns out ok.

msort81 05-19-2013 12:38 PM

I think he was up there with a group that do a ride called the the Mountain run ? Not sure if its something from Pelican Rennlist or Early S ?
Whatever group its extremely sad to have someone from the community badly hurt and see what looks like a nice example destroyed.

peppy 05-19-2013 12:45 PM

Hope everyone is going to be ok.

In the first picture, for the damage to the front it looks like a lot of room between the seat and the steering wheel.

platas 05-19-2013 12:48 PM

It says man in stable condition.. lets try to get more info on the driver.

sm70911 05-19-2013 01:15 PM

Shuie
I know we are pretty irreverent generally, but that's poor taste. Some of us on here were with the driver just yesterday.

msort81 05-19-2013 01:25 PM

Sorry to hear that SM. Do you know the circumstances ? I think there were a couple of events going on in NH over the weekend. I know the location its fairly far north and certainly a very beautiful part of the country up around Mount Washington and the White Mountain Forest.
Thoughts and Prayers go out to George and his family.

Watch the comments...

I find any comment, such as the one posted above, highly inappropriate and distasteful. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourself. You have no business being a member of this community if you cannot filter what you think and what you type. This is a serious incident and right now our thoughts should be with the driver and his family.

According to the linked article he is: George Gates, 60, of Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.

Yes we had our annual Mountain Melee over the weekend. Our group was having lunch at a Thai restaurant in Maine when George & his group also stopped for lunch. George sat across the table from me. I didn't know him until then but he is a very nice man. After lunch our group went in one direction him & his another. The accident happened about an hour later. He has VERY serious injuries.
Please keep George & his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Shuie 05-19-2013 02:18 PM

I thought I read that he was okay. Sending good thoughts.

Baz 05-19-2013 02:27 PM

Thanks for the info, Mark.

Rescue crews had to cut top off car during extraction.

My understanding is he is in induced coma and life in the balance. :(

I'm going to send a little prayer up for him.

Gee, did you want to try and save the Fuchs too?

PS, I know you're good guy, so I'm not trying to be too mean here.

Very sorry for the wreck and the injuries. I hope everyone takes a 2nd and 3rd look at this. You never know about a patch of oil or whatever. It can start with a small tree branch that is kicked up by the guy in front of you clipping the corner.

A puncture. A lot of things. I'm ashamed of how I have behaved in the past. I've been very lucky.

The Concord newspaper's caption did say he was OK. We'll give the editor George's injuries and see if he/she feels OK.

Your welcome Baz and thank you for the prayers. When & if I receive any other information that is appropriate to forward I certainly will.

When I read the reporter's comments I got the feeling that he was better off that it turns out he was. Plus my mind was on the "strike another long-hood from the list" comment above. It wasn't a nice thing to say in hindsight but I wasn't trying to be rude.

Macroni 05-19-2013 03:39 PM

Very serious.....

News from within the community.....

"Unofficially, George has suffered brain injuries, possible vertebrae damage, crushed ribs, fractured kneecap, lacerations, induced coma and on and on. Not good at all, but all vitals are stable at the moment. "

This. Very well put. Group rides bring out the worst in me, and I don't make it a point to participate anymore. I'm not enough of a driver, to be brutally honest.

pete3799 05-19-2013 03:55 PM

Hoping he pulls through OK.
Anybody know what hospital he's in?
If i can do anything up on this end let me know.
