The Great Gatsby. Has anyone on here seen it? How good or bad is it? The original (Redford) was not that great. The book was pretty good, hope the movie is at least watchable. Anyone want to grade it? |
Current version is getting widely panned.

Too bad, was hoping some would find it good. My wife and I are going to go
in our '29 Chevrolet, our theatre is still a downtown type with a marquee and lots of lights. (Probably no one will notice) |
Hated the book when I read it in HS so perhaps I'm a bit prejudiced, but I have no interest in shelling out $14 to see the flick.

Cinematography and costumes were stunning.
Came out of the theatre depressed. Its a bit on the dark side yeah. |
Great movie. It stands on its own. Movies about books are tough, but you have to judge them on their own merit. Almost didn't see it because of lackluster reviews. Glad my wife asked me to go. I've noticed if a movie gets crappy reviews people start disliking it more. This is a good movie and it is engaging from scene one. See it!

I wouldn't mind seeing it. I like movies.

Greatly disliked the book. Not going to see the movie. It's the Great Gatsby done how i would expect Michael Bay to produce/direct it.
|
rental!!!!
|
Iron Man 3 and Star Trek are in front of this for my movie dollars.
|
Leonardo DiCrapio? Nein, danke.
|
Redford's version is on Netflix. I like DiCaprio, but he is no Redford. Sorry.
|
Well , a "bit over the top" ole sport, but I liked it just fine. Good car scenes too. A bit of a distraction having it in 3D, but I'm guessing this helps hide the computer generated scenes, maybe. 4 out of 5http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1369008692.jpg

Redford had it all. |
My cousin has a location management business which arranges film companies use of properties....He manages a number of properties on Long Island...
There are still a great number of "Gold Coast" Mansions remaining on the north shore of Long Island.... a few are open as museums, historical sites.... and others are still held privately... I've toured some of these mansions....... its hard to put in words the luxury... really the grounds the furnishings... And most of the really grand Gold Coast mansions had already been demolished.... |
It was fair and seemed very LONG.

...and the moon soaked with wet light his tangled clothes upon the floor.
...and each change [in her voice] tipped out a little of her warm human magic upon the air. A new world, material without being real, where poor ghosts breathing dreams like air, drifted fortuitously about... |
