Radio and electronics hobbyist?
Anyone have any ideas where can I get a replacement speaker for an vintage solid state device?
Specifically, this speaker is 8ohm, 0.5 watt with an OD of 92mm? I've found a few places on the web, but it seems like they want you to buy 200 of them at a time or a minimum charge of 500 bucks.... Frys, Radio Shack, nothing. (If you're curious, this is for a 2 track (!) tape player I found at a yard sale once.) |

I have an old speaker that is a little smaller than 92 mm floating around if you want to try it.

Hey, Larry, thanks for the offer. I went ahead and bought a chinese speaker from ebay that I can adapt.
RH, Parts Express is a great source, thanks for the reminder. They didn't have what I needed, but they do have lotsa stuff! |
Did you look at Orange County Speaker Works?
They have lots of rebuild kits for re-edging speakers. |

(The speaker I need is just a total cheepie like from a transistor radio from the '60's. I found a place in China that sells on ebay- they have one that can be adapted to fit.) |
I used their kits to rebuild my Infinity Column II's. Worked out well and the speakers sound good as new.
