If anyone wants some .22lr Blazer, I'll cut you a deal... 500 rounds for $75 :D

It's a combination of factors.

1) New shooters/owners needing to feed their recent acquisitions
2) Casual shooters realizing they may not have any ammo the next time they go to the range.
3) Hunters who shoot 5 rds/season realizing they may run out in 2 decades and that they better stock up
4) Regular shooters who keep some inventory realizing they may need to double/triple/quadruple that inventory
5) Hardcore shooters realizing they may need to xtuple their inventory
6) Flippers buying entire shipments when their favorite Walmart stock boy calls them with the news that something -- anything -- arrived
7) Ammo and component factories that have been running mostly balls-out since 2008.
8) Gov't orders taking up huge blocks of factory capacity (e.g., Lake City is doing ONLY gov't contracts)

also I think other factors with 22 are

A flood of 22 semi auto pistols and AR 22 on the market to mimic the real deals. I own two of them (SW M&P 22 and SW MP AR15/22)

The idea being have fun shoot allot and dont spend the money on ammo. Even with 22 at .20/round or more its still cheaper then .223 and up but still makes it hard to buy 22 for that price. I just bought a brick of 22 for about .19/ round and hope it returns to normal levels.

This stuff doesn't get caught up in American politics. It comes straight from The Riech to the small bore rifle club next door. I can't remember what it costs but it's very cheap and OK.
