I would recommend a '69 Bug convertible in the midst of a body-off restoration - perhaps with a gallon of paint included and miscellaneous left-over parts.

You could of had a '87 Mercedes SEC but that opportunity has come and gone.

You can still find decent examples of these for about $5K. Probably not an early "lowlight" though.

I've seen decent survivor Volvo P1800's for $5K and under.

You can get a decent C3 Corvette for $5k nowadays. Ask me how I know. lol
