Excellent news. Congratulations! What unit are you commanding? And remember, the worst day in command is better than the best day on staff.

Congratulations and thank you for your service. My son is a medic in the LA Guard stationed at Carville.

Congrats on the Command !

Thanks guys. The unit is the 773rd MP BN from Pineville, LA. 3 subordinate companies in Carville, Minden and Pineville as well. Haven't performed the MP mission myself for years, been an Engineer with the 225th Engineer Brigade most of my career. In the Guard, there's a high likelihood you move between branches and job duties as the needs of the Guard require. The fact I was a qualified MP officer from way back led to this command.

The BN has seen many deployments, OEF, OIF, and Gitmo duty.

Instrument41: what unit is your son in at Carville? My previous job was Deputy Commander at the 61st Troop Command at Carville.

You will love every darn minute of it. AND you will NEVER have a better military experience. You will miss them when you turn it over to your successor.

Damned straight! When I relinquished command in Feb I cried...not ashamed either.

Enjoy leading, mentoring and coaching. You will learn more than you teach.
