No static, do not take this the wrong way, please. I mean you no disrespect but I must speak plainly.

You are an idiot with no common sense when it comes to your body. You will kill yourself. You need to slow down, eat better, rest more, and not be out to prove anything other than how good life's simple pleasures are. I wish you much happiness, but you must make that choice first. Its not in what you do.

Yes, Mother.

Todd, maybe it's time to reassess your commitment to jazz. You already have the hat, but the typical jazz musician of the 1950s and 1960s smoked cigarettes, stayed up late every night and slept late every day, single-handedly kept the local liquor store in business, and had multiple sex partners. I mean heck, even Marian McPartland cheated on her husband, and she played live performances until she was 86. Something to think about...

Todd-I'm back on the bike seriously for first time/long time following spinal cord injury and some ridiculous life events. There is no way you should be stressing your body like your 20 or 30...the toxins that bit you were just a poke from the Gods. You need to take care that you're hydrated and fed, and yes, it is a royal pita when you're running around, but there are ways-a protein shake, some good whole foods when you can etc etc.

You know the drill. And yeah, you likely just had a bad sammie, but the depleted state of your bod likely made you more susceptible. Shouldn't eat unknown sushi for the same reason when in that state, stuff you'd normally shrug off will bite you when you're on the edge.

Maybe it's a tumor.

IT'S NOT A TOOMA!

I crack me up.

Don't smoke, don't drink at gigs (or very much at all), drink yogurt/fiber/fruit smoothies most every day and am happily married. I should be doing tai chi more regularly, and getting back on the bike is an attempt to get my aerobic activity up. I walk a fair amount every day and in my office I sit on an exercise ball instead of a chair.

As for stress at work - I'm in senior management and depend on DoD funding to keep my people (and myself) funded. This has not been a very fun year, though we're not doing too bad. I'm in charge of transition so now I'm working with a couple of entrepreneurs to try and take out some of our tech. It is nuts. I'd love to change things up (and that decision may be made for me in a few months) but I've got responsibilities so I have to keep the balls in the air for awhile.

Fri was an especially bad day. It happens. Thankfully I'm home from the wedding gig and am looking forward to a lazy next two days. Then it starts up again.

I suppose I could quit playing music and sit at home every night and watch tv. Then I'd be able to have conversations with people about shows that I currently have never seen.

Or not.

Keep some food with you - granola bars, etc - for when things get crazy.
