Looking for a good dim sum place in Portland

Me and my buddies are looking for an authentic type place with a mostly Chinese clientele that has not yet hit Yelp or other online guides.

We're all white but don't want a place with too many other white people.

Any ideas?

Make sure there are dogs in the neighborhood? No wait...

jyl 05-27-2013 04:42 PM

There are none. No such thing. Nothing to find. Go away!

I'll ask my friends, they might know.

Sorry, there's no good Asian food anywhere on the west coast

You'll need to go to Wyoming our North Dakota to get the good stuff

I know some real lawyers in Portland, give me your real name and I will ask them to recommend something, unless they recognize you, but they have always helped my wife and I, we eat well when we go there. They have a big clientele, they may know some gay places you and your friends would like.

I wouldn't say there's none on the west coast, there's some in sf but the best, in vancouver, bc. a couple of staples are kirin, sun sui wah, and there's one in metrotown in burnaby and in one in richmond, aberdeen center. i'm sure there's others... but those are my local hangouts when i'm in town. i know we have some in the international district here in seattle and on the eastside but they just don't measure up..

Dean, While I'm not gay I do respect people's rights to equal protection.

However, please do not troll all over the internet after me trying to solicit.

Technically this would be *before* you try to solicit, not that any of us are judging. :D

"We're all white but don't want a place with too many other white people."

Yeah, that's always a bad sign... :-)

They can't dance and ruined rap music too. You know it's DEAD when the white people show up...

I'm glad you all understand now. How hard it is to find, how easily it is taken away, how bitter the tears of loss. Why can't those non-Asian hipsters stick to their groovy James Bread-winning chefs and leave the ethnic joints alone. There are more "acclaimed, daring, fresh, ground breaking, blah blah" places in Portland than you can shake a stick at, but only a handful of good dim sum houses.

RWebb 05-27-2013 08:46 PM

maybe they like to eat dim sum?

jyl 05-27-2013 09:08 PM

Let them eat cake.

those little Vietnamese ones?

or are you thinking Hungarian?

jyl 05-28-2013 11:10 AM

The kind that comes with a guillotine.

RWebb 05-28-2013 11:45 AM

the French are very good at pastries, but will they welcome you to their ethnic eateries??

jyl 05-28-2013 12:11 PM

Of course! I spent my childhood in France. They can tell.
