Oh yeah, the 90 has it's share.
Drivers fender, accident started it, both sides and front floorboards. Planning on a winter repair job.
Frame has its share of surface rust, but nothing too terrible right now. Working on a plan to clean and POR15 the underbody.

I'm just wrapping up an engine/trans swap on a 92 for my son's friend.
Rust isn't to bad - there are a couple bad spots on the body, frame is pretty solid. Leaks were everywhere with the original motor/trans - it was agreasy mess. The belly pan/trans crossmember is a terrible setup. I used a ridiculous array of sizes of metric and inch wrenches.

At least the new 4.0 runs sweet.

I bought one from him a few years back. He can find you anything you want.

Yeah I am still trying to figure out if the hardware is SAE or Metric......
Mine leaked from the valve cover like crazy. Not sure how they even drove it. In 30 days I have done the following:
Wheels & Tires
Shackle 1" lift
New Flares
Removed Track Bars
Quick disconnect for front sway bar
New shocks and steering stabilizer

Buying parts for these older Jeeps is like shopping at the dollar store. I love it!

I am spending too much on it, but compared to spending on Porsche parts it's nothing.
Going through everything to make it "sound." Paid $350, the cost of the new top they guy had just put on it.

Here's my '95 Wrangler with a swapped-in '97 TJ 4.0L, and gas tank in Sedona, AZ. Also, take note, that late Grand Wagoneer Dana 44 axles are a near swap; just have to grind and reweld the spring perches in a 1/2 inch on either side. The engine you have should have the Carter carb, unless it's been swapped in favor of a 2-barrel Weber carb. If not, I have one of these, if you're interested. Mine rests on 33" tires, 4-inch BDS springs, 1" body and engine lift, Detroits in both ends, automatic, 4.88 gears, 4:1 transfer case kit. Works great, slow on the highway, but very low low-range crawling.
We also have a 2010 Jeep Commander with the Hemi engine and AWD. Wife loves it.

I have had my Jeep since I bought it new in '97. I don't go off-road as much as I used to, but it is still a blast to drive.

i lovingly maintained my stepdad's 1984 jeep scrambler. pulled the head and had it redone. did body work..full suspension rebuild. most of it on my money. i loved my stepdad..he got a kick out of having a greasey shadetree mechanic stepson.

he told me he was going to give it to me when he was done. i pulled out all the smog stuff, thinking it was a texas ride. i boxed it all up and kept it incase i rolled it out to california.

out of now effen where, my sister asked for it. personally, i dont ask old people for stuff. bad form..."can i have your house when you die?" will never come from my lips. my sister did. my stepdad used it for dove and duck hunting. he told her yes. she never does anything fast. but this she did fast. rented a Uhaul and dragged it to colorado.

my mom called me to break the news to me. they thought she wanted it after he was gone..nope. my brother had to drive him hunting after that.

i took the box of smog stuff and put it in a dumpster. that scrambler is in her garage and she has done nothing to it, for it. sometimes i hate that woman..and her spineless effing husband. idiots.

i find solace knowing i couldnt or wouldnt want to deal with smogging that thing. i will buy an even better vintage 4x4 and make it my own. i may even take up dove and duck hunting.

when my mom passes..i will need to find a lawyer to handle my sister. but my mom is wise..i hope she spends it all.

Here's my '88 YJ. I've had it for about 10 years and use it to haul stuff to and from the beach and to make quick trips into town. It's a 5 speed 6cyl model and has its fair share of rust (hence the diamond plate) but it always starts and is a blast to drive.

how good is the Grand Cherokee off-road?

does it have lockers for the drive system?

I just saw a Youtube video (from Greece maybe) and a VW Vanagon Syncro and Ford pickup both did a lot better than the GC - surprised me.

I've wanted a Jeep for years. When I finally decided to do it end of last year, I just went for a new one since I got an incredible deal.....The new engine is amazing, way better than the previous version....I'm averaging close to 20mpg. Not quite that much off road!
