How to dispose of a tube TV?

Title says it all, I have a 32" Sony Trinitron in perfect working condition w/ remote that I cannot give away. It weighs about as much as a Honda Civic and it's taking up a schitload of space on my kitchen floor right now. I don't want to put it on the curb and let the jackals tear it apart for whatever the valuable metals are inside(?)

What's my best plan? TIA.

Google for electronics recycling in your area. It would be a ***** to take it there since it's too heavy. I have a 36 Sony trinitron and it's really heavy. When I moved last time, I hired two big guys to carry it to my new place, and they were struggling with it.

Goodwill, SA etc. will not take tube TVs. They are worthless.

Look up the electronic recycling MO for your area and drop off.

List it for free on Craigslist. Someone will pick it up by the end of the day.

Yup, title the subject Curb Alert, post it in the free section. Include a pic.

My FIL lives in a gated retirement community in FL.

Helped him put a big broken flat tube on the curb for recycling. Made a comment that it'll be gone before the morning.

He scoffed, it's a gated community, no outsiders can get
In and the residents are all to old and frail.

It was gone no less than 3 hours later

Bring it to Best Buy:
Recycling: Mobile Phone Recycling, Computer Recycling - Best Buy

In 2004 the state of California passed a law which requires retailers to collect an advanced recovery fee when a consumer purchases a new televisions or monitors. The fee is deposited in a fund managed by the state of California, which was created to finance recycling of unwanted electronics.

Program details for California
What We Take

Three items per household per day.
Nearly everything electronic, including tube TVs and monitors up to 32", flat-panel TVs and monitors up to 60", peripherals, DVD players, home and car audio, cell phones, MP3 players, and cables.
Desktop or laptop computers.
Small electrics, fans and vacuums.
No cost to the consumer.

Many laws....unfortunately vary state by state....but most require the manufacturers in some form via fees to assist in disposal. Google " Extended producer responsibility" aka EPR.

Put it in the drive, throw a sign on it for sale, $50. It'll disappear.

They will around here.

We had a 34" Sony Bravia on the floor stand, perfect condition, working order etc. 168lbs. No way I was even thinking about moving that sucker.

Goodwill came around and picked it up, 3 guys in a van - they did need to be assured that it wasn't just junk... I like to think it's soldiering on giving pleasure to some old folks day room somewhere.

If a waste disposal company picks it up....and charges you....it should be broken down and recycled as opposed to being tossed into a hole in the ground. "I" a proponent of the recycle option.

Those guys in the video are some good mouth breathing knuckle draggers suitable for jury duty.

I placed a moving blanket over an old tube once and threw a 10 lb stone at it. About the sound of a shotgun in a tunnel (wrapped in a blanket).

We had one of those TVs, looks like a giant cube? Weighs in at @400lbs?
Ours died after we had a new sliding glass door installed in the family room on the windiest day of the year a couple years ago. All the dust/dirt from the stucco demo of the threshold blew right into the set. It died a day after that.
Went to BB and got a new 46" flat screen. They hauled the old one away for free and yes, the two BIG guys that came to deliver the new one struggled with it.
