As with any vehicle, it is always wise to shut down the a/c prior to cut off, and turn it back on once started. To achieve maximum cooling temperatures at the vents, the settings should be on recycle and fan speed 2. This allows the evaporator to become cold, while also pulling in the hot air in the cabin. Too much hot air circulating through the evaporator will reduce it's effectiveness. Fan speed 1 will achieve the coldest evap temps, but does not pull in enough air to satisfactorily cool the cabin. |

Mattdavis11,
That is why I drive a Ford... Only kidding, didnt realize all of that. I guess I will have to rely on the warranty. |

what is a 'vanity truck'? the cover will most certainly keep temps down in the cab and will most certainly make you look like a pansy. no need to argue that it's ok to look like a pansy because you are surrounded by other pansies, it's YOUR choice. It WILL work. It does look cumbersome though. you might also consider RV style curtains inside the cab. You could find a nice pattern for each season and switch them out periodically. |

By the way, nice truck Zeke... |
Speaking of RV covers. I see lots and lots of RVs with exterior windshield covers and tire covers. This is really important for the sun states.
My truck has lived in a garage for 6 years. It won't have that luxury anymore, so I'll have to work harder to keep it nice. By nice, I mean to keep the paint from fading and the clearcoat degrading. It happens on Chevies all the time. Two of the few I looked at had already been repainted in those areas. Puzzi or not, I'm getting a cover even if I have to throw a beach towel on it. |
Got a half truck cover instead. Talked to the factory and they don't make the greenhouse cover anymore. It still should be easier than wrestling a full size truck cover which would be about the size of a 10 man tent.

I don't think I have ever seen tobacco spit on the outside of any vehicle, but YMMV. :D
I think most people use spit cups. There are plenty of vanity trucks here in SC. I just didn't figure you as a vanity truck guy. Quote:
OK. Just messin' with you, Milt. Glad you found a truck you like... glad you didn't have to settle for an Avalanche. |
When I lived in AL for a year, I saw a few trucks with tobacco stains on the door. I had a hard time there because it rained so much. I'd wash my truck and it would rain almost every day a little bit. Of course it rained a lot some days/weeks. Maybe all that rain kept some of the stains washed off. ;)
I think there's still some red mud under my truck even after 20 years. I don't think I would have hated an Avalanche but I have a short bed with a locking cover. Same difference except the bed is bigger and it's on a real frame. Now, when I hop in the old truck, it feels so much more worn out. Funny, it doesn't rattle much as old as it is. Anyone want an '89 Chevy PU for about a grand? (Salvage title due to a 4K fender bender). |
