New Spring-piston Break Barrel Air Rifle

Another Pelican, with a name that rhymes with Higgins, once again influences my wallet.

Thanks again Jeff!

One of those secret long lusted for toys grown deep within my heart since a youth playing with a Red Rider BB Gun, has been an adult sized air rifle.

While I love my Ruger 10/22, and Dads old bolt action .22 I took to boy scout camp, I wanted something quiet and to plink with in any suburbia back yard.

Enter the Spring-piston Break Barrel Air Rifle RWS Diana .22 caliber combo package, includes a decent scope with droop mount, and 2 stage tunable trigger.

Chrono's out at average ~760-775 feet per second. After putting a couple hundred .22 pellets through it, I can hold 1/2" groups at 75 feet, and it's not even broke in yet.

Other .22 powder bullet people can't find ammo in stores anywhere it seems like, yet I can buy 500 .22 pellets for $10-12 bucks.

Usage instructions:

Grasp and Break Barrel in half, insert pellet, raise barrel, sight target, pfffftttttttttt sound. repeat.

fun Fun FUN stuff to punch holes in targets and plink at pop cans in the back yard.

Just wanted to share a fun new toy that is cheap to shoot and silent neighbor friendly.

No this isn't some $3000 mil-spec dressed out AR-15, but that wasn't what I was looking for.

Cheap fun, you might want to look at these.

Awesome, Dave - I love air rifles, great fun and challenging to shoot well.

Looks like shot #5 was a hot round. ;)

dieseled?

Careful, they'll eat a rifle scope - you need spring piston specific air rifle scope.

Rusty Heap 05-29-2013 07:32 PM

nope, not dieseled yet, which is an interesting quirk by itself, "Pellets Dieseling" how if you over lube your barrel, the built up oils can ignite with a "pre-ignition".

interesting article on how you want to hold a spring gun too.
