first week was pretty tense as the heelers wanted to eat him. this is week three and they only want to play with him to the point of destruction.

have noticed that he prefers my lap to that of the girls. suspect it's because i'm not the one trying to mother/smother him with cuddles all the time.

Wow, that is about the cutest thing I have seen. :D

Cats have the innate ability to find the person that's not keen on them, and either try to cuddle with them, or jump in their lap. Cute kitty, by the way.

Some pound rescues take years to get comfortable, and other factors influence how they behave. Some cats are great with kids and will put up with a lot. Others will hide. I had one pound rescue that would let Calvin do most anything with it. And another one that avoided him at all cost.

Yeah the problem with cats and kids is the older the cat the less they like the noise and commotion that kids bring to the party.

I just lost my 15 1/2 year old lab and we are sad but know he had a good long life. I adopted the two cats 3 1/2 years ago. Brother and sister. I would recommend getting two as long as they get along. Mine play together, clean each other, etc. I use "worlds best cat litter" and it is expensive but lasts long time and no ammonia odor which I get with the more common types. I feed a little wet most mornings. I was told it gives them needed moisture which cats are built to get in the wild from their diet and helps kidney function over time. Yes, they are spoiled. Cats certainly have different personalities then dogs. I appreciate both and the diversity they bring to the house. The male loved being around my dog and I always found him laying by Hooch, especially as he got less mobile and more infirm. I think he knew the end was coming.
