We bought some scratchers for my wife's family as stocking stuffers for Christmas.

Nephew: Hey dad... I'll trade you my lottery ticket (unscratched) for your Snicker's bar.

Brother in law: Sure!

2 minutes later... BIL announces he won $20 on that card!

The biggest sucker bet is buying scratch offs that have already paid off all the big winner tickets. I'm pretty sure there are websites that track those stats. Likely they charge a subscription fee.

Back in the Gold Rush days....most of the big winnners were the outfitters that supplied the suckers.

Well I just scratched my ticket and ------ no winning numbers.

Nothing ventured....nothing gained.

Will keep you posted!

If I've spent $40 on the CA lottery in the 30 or so years since it came out, I'd be surprised. Mostly office pools when it hit stupid money.
