Weather reporting STL

Yesterday a tornado blew just north of my neighborhood. I spent 12 years in Wichita so kind of used to it.

I can see issuing warnings, but to make it an all night event is ridiculous.

One station keep replaying the radar sequence patting themselves on the back for predicting there was a tornado in the return signature. They never apologized for reporting a "Mass Casualty" situation at the Holiday Inn in Earth City (FALSE) or reporting the roof was blown off a Hotel/Casino, it wasn't.

The other station has a chief meteorologist, a former Iowa Pork Princess, who obviously never spent a minute in a physics class. She hasn't learned squat about weather even though she has been doing it more than 10 years.

Everything is so hyped and over exaggerated it is counterproductive.

What you describe is one reason OK can have massive tornados and relatively low casualty numbers. All of the major news stations in OK have at least 4-5 meteorologists on staff, and the CBS affiliate has 2 meteorologists that go out in the field and chase them. In OK they report them accurately and save lives!

Its a shame that other news outlets can't get at least one person with any intelligence in the weather center. :(
