I'm wearing my Sinn 757 UTC now. It's 43mm and I just can't take anything smalled. Though that GMT would be tempting if I could afford one.

Omega Speedmaster? A wonderful piece of kit. I've had mine for 25 years or so and still wear it every day. Well, almost. My "dress" watch is an IWC from the early '50s.

Picked this up recently from a Craigslist ad for $60. I'd like to find the original band for it. The one that's on it looks ok, but is obviously too narrow. It actually looks decent when centered between the lugs.

My 38mm Speedy auto is the perfect size for my chicken bone sized wrist. I'm still pretty tough though.

If you want a slightly different style of band than the usual "NATO" style nylon band. There is a really nice leather strap that will work on those fixed bars. http://www.broadarrow.net/jlcstrap.jpg http://www.broadarrow.net/straps.jpg I'm not affiliated, but I have had one of these, and will likely get another. I really liked the look. scroll down to the "Jürgen's leather pilot's straps" Sale 2 |
My daily watch is a vintage Seiko automatic diver. I've had it re-lumed, replaced chapter rings and seals, replaced the band when it wore out, the watch itself appears indestructible and in a world of increasingly bling watches, the basic diver looks better all the time. As a bonus, the day ring is in Arabic and English for some weird reason.
I'd like to get another diver, or a Suunto computer-on-wrist thingy. I used to like and wear chronographs, but it is hard to actually time things with those (something about aging eyes and the size 2 font). I used to have some pilot's watches with the B6 slide rule bezel, but eventually I learned how to add, subtract, multiply and divide in my head like a big boy. I still have my geekoid RPN scientific calculator watch. |
