Hygiene is the most important thing. I brush my teeth after meals and I'm happy with the colour. Wouldn't want them any whiter.

On another note... A Long time ago I went on a date with a lady I met on line. Nice enough but her teeth were filthy and stained. They looked like a factory workers dirty tea cup. I mean they were really bad.
I'm "folliclely" challenged so I use clippers and keep my hair at a number 0...
With a concerned look on her face she asked me, if you let your hair grow would you be bald? I made and excuse and left. SmileWavy

it is not about having stark white teeth. most times it is as easy as brushing twice a day, rinsing with hydrogen peroxide a few times a week, using a good mouthwash and flossing regularly. eEeven with all the coffee and tea I drink, my teeth are not bad. Could be a lot whiter, but not bad at all.

Our youngest daughter was born without her right side eyetooth. For years she had a retainer with a fake tooth filling in the spot. Now, she's 19 and we're having a implant installed ($$$). The Implant is almost complete and the dentist is now advised us that she needs to have her teeth whitened so they will match the new implant ($$). I'm so happy.

Well, good thing the new implant is not dark because whitening would leave that tooth the same shade. I have a cap in front and I told the dentist to match what I have after he pointed out that he could make it lighter and then whiten my existing teeth to match.

Sounds like a way in insure future business to me.

After spending way too much time in a dentist chair, having had 28 crowns, I know for a fact that they can and should tint the implant to match the existing teeth, unless there is some other reason to whiten. It may be that she is young and teeth will darken over time and aging...which may cause you to want to do the whitening as well.

I have had to have some of my crowns redone, and they can match the tints almost exactly, certainly closer than your eye can detect.

I have to admit I cannot date someone with bad teeth. But I have no problem being friends with them and always always always wish they could get cosmetic work as appropriate.

I've seen some beautiful women save for a teeth issue. I guess at some point $ enters into things but maybe some just don't care as well. I dunno...

Cute girl - nice eyes. You seem to be pulling away from her.

Many more photos or many more girlfriends?

I think that teeth whitening is prompted by a desire to be accepted - eliminating yet another point of rejection, etc. I enjoy looking at a beautiful, clean, and white set of teeth; they make for an intoxicating smile.

As for the $$ part stopping people, I know several people who have 100k into their teeth. And they're not all rich. Some are.

I know a lady, 43... $80,000 so far and she's a school teacher. Never married, no kids.

I am currently into my mouth for about $90 k....and no, I don't have dental insurance, have a face that only a mother could love (and a mother orangutan at that), but the alternative was getting dentures which are a really bad idea and most dentists won't do them until you are well advanced in years...and even then they'd rather not.

I saw a girl a while back that had a decent body, but a mouth that would make a pit bull think twice - it looked like a grenade had gone off in her mouth - her top front teeth stuck out at about 30° from vertical. Yet she was inked seven ways to Sunday. I guess it's all about priorities.

I had terrible dental health starting early (bad genes) and took a blow to the face at 16 that did not help one bit. When It got to the point I had to have major reconstruction of my front teeth, my wife voted for the movie star look and I went with it since she is the one who looks at me the most. The dentist disagreed, but I don' t have to live with him and the wife is thrilled with my perfect too-white (code B-1) smile.

Nice to see many are interested in their smiles. As far as shades go, B1 use to be the top of the shades, but that has long been surpassed by bleaching shades that make that look like a latte. Extremely white teeth can definitely be an asset, but it depends on where you live, what you do, your age, and many other considerations. What really can cripple you is terrible teeth. Young girls with decayed front teeth. People in their 30's with dentures. Women who think their husbands don't know they wear dentures. My day is generally good for a few of these cases.

I think Paula Deen has the market cornered on white teeth.

Well my take on this regarding women with impossibly white teeth is how 'bout the opposite? When I was @16 I had a friends older brother (Think farm country-rural) give me some sage advice regarding women, hygiene and teeth coralation. If the womens teeth are off color and she has bad breath; she's just not washing them. If she's not washing her teeth you can bet she's not washing anything else!

Lived by that ever since and he's never wrong!
