Summer Saturday nights
One of my favorite activities on a warm summer Saturday night is going down to the track, drinking some beers, and watching the hillbillies go around in circles. Twenty five 500 hp cars on a 3/8 mile track can get mighty entertaining.

Wish we still had a bullring close by. They closed down Portland Speedway a while back, so the closest one now is about an hour or so away....
Very high fun- to-buck ratio if you keep away from the concessions!

They just closed Old Dominion in Virginia. It was great...$15 for me and $6 for my son. $3 beer, freebies and I was home in 15 minutes. I can go to Winchester but its a longer drive. They will open a new track with a road course in Fredericksburg, but it wont open for a year or so.

It's hard to believe that in a place like Los Angeles we have to drive quite a bit more than an hour to get to a dirt track. The paved Irwindale track is apparently back up and running after being shut down over the winter. That's about 30 minutes for most that don't live out that way.
10 million people in Los Angeles County and another 3 million in Orange County and we have one circle track. The other one is in Riverside County. |

We have a roundy-round track just a few miles from us although I've never been inside the gates. Auto City Speedway
On a clear night, you can hear the cars.

My uncle used to be on the fire crew for the local roundy round track. That was always fun to watch!
We used to letter most of the local cars too. It's scary some of the rigging those guys do.

Herr_o,
I was just saying that I need to get to Lebanon for the stock cars this summer. I get to wear my BillyBob teeth. Larry |

Shut down the Saugus Speedway about 20 years ago. Filled it up every Saturday night. No revenue since then other than a swap meet. Don't understand it. Property is still vacant.

Edit: I'm going to be at a show in Findlay, Ohio that weekend. That's 2 hours from Deetroit. Hmmm.
