Question on tire contact pattern of that monster. At home I have some Dale SR, Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin tires hanging in the garage and in looking at the contact patch I noticed there is about 70% of the tire with any wear. All the tires are from final practice and in Jeff's case they went through 8 sets before finding ones he liked for a CA Speedway race. I remember on my 914-6 those old Goodyear slicks were wearing 100% across but these are not? How is the tire wear on the vintage machine and how often do you cycle through tires when running? I know the ones I had were bias ply and work different and are probably a lot stiffer than the radials so that may account for it?

Looks good. I know that is a lot of labor and love.

Looking awesome!

The engine plate goes on before the flywheel and usually covers the flywheel once the tranny/bellhousing is bolted up. It has several bolts that then secure it to provide complete protection in the event of a flywheel or clutch failure. You should have one!

Yes Historics, CA Speedway next weekend, and we were invited to Austin, TX in October.

I think a shield covering the lower front of the flywheel is a good idea if not for just idling out of the pits with all the junk on the ground. Or coming off the rack with hot sticky tires that will pull rocks out of the pavement.
