Back From Being 'Wrapped'...

Well the Targa is back and frankly I think she looks pretty snazzy ;)

Pictured in the driver seat is her future owner ...

Looks nice. What's the cost on a wrap job like that?

M.D. Holloway 06-13-2013 10:13 AM

I had the cancer treated as well - they sanded out the surface rust, filled, primmed and re=primed with a white primer. Cost me 2 large total. Some plaeces were going for as little as 1K but non would do the body work, they also took off all hardware as well. These guys did as part of the package. I had a few quotes from paint shops with the lowest at 5 bills.

For a car that isn't especially valuable on the market (a 77 ROW) I figuered I would do this instead of a full restore which I wasn't about to do (book sales haven't been that good!).

Looks great

Looks good. What did the before look like?

M.D. Holloway 06-13-2013 11:13 AM

I have let him drive it in the parking lot - hasn't had room to get it out of 1st yet. He is only 14 and is itching to 'do burn outs!' so I'm thinking a few more years...like 20!

I will get some before and after shots...

fastfredracing 06-13-2013 12:17 PM

It actually looks pretty good! Does it have any sheen? The only thing I would have done different would be to leave the wheel lips silver. Anxious to see before shots also, color change? My body guy hates white, but I think it really works on these cars . Looking good !

You sold the death trap?

Not everyone should drive what their parents like in cars. Get him a Mustang. He sounds like a Mustang kinda guy.

M.D. Holloway 06-13-2013 02:07 PM

actually Zeke, he's really into Jeeps and Pick-Ups...believe it or not he is all Red Neck. The onlything remotely 'berb'n' in him is his love of golf (reason why he is dressed like that - just back from the course...) given the choice he would take a lifted Warngler anyday provided it had rack lights and fat arse tires!

I didn't touch the wheels - they were like that. I am going to get them powder coated as soon as Stomach Monkey comes over and lifts her ;)

M.D. Holloway 06-13-2013 02:11 PM

or if I get another fat check I might just buy some new ones...

I know some might think I'm throwing money doen a well but this car has more stories behind her...the gray market orig owner died in the 911 towers, the 2nd owner was my grad school roomate, the 3rd was my best friend...she has a sorted past but don't we all?

BlueSkyJaunte 06-13-2013 08:29 PM

I think some gold BBS wheels on there would look *****in'.

fanaudical 06-13-2013 09:36 PM

Looks nice, I'm considering doing the same.

I recently got quoted $2k to do my Targa, but that was with me doing the prep work.

How did all the seams come out along the doors? Any possibility of the wrap lifting there?

911SauCy 06-14-2013 04:25 AM

White or Gunmetal Compomotives would be the bizzz on there :)

That'll have to be after the weekend.

I'm back on Monday.

manbridge 74 06-14-2013 05:04 AM

What the heck..... were they out of leopard print?

J/K, looks good.

How do you clean/repair it?
