Dried Parsley
Useful?
Reasonable substitute for fresh parsley? |
No.
Not at all. JR |
Can you smoke it?
|
None of the above.
|
Depends on what your using it for.
Soup, not bad sprinkle on boiled potatoes, not bad in a marinade, not bad tabouli, no way fresh is better, but dried has its place |

should it be outlawed?
if so, would that be outlawed for the entire US, or only in NYC? |
Although dried Parsley is not a very good substitute for fresh, I make a real homemade chicken soup and without fresh available I use a lot of dry.
You can still taste it after it hydrates in the soup. |
Dried parsley adds some green flecks but nothing else.

I paid $10 for a lid of dried parsley once. Once.
|
Not a big fan of it either.
|
Buds = good
Loose = bad |
Use five times as much in cole slaw. Can't over use.
Same with chicken salad(but add cherrys and toasted walnuts/pecans), soups, etc. Soaks up water, prevents seperation, and it got vitimins. Smoke hysops. |
That's what I told my mom it was when she found my stash.
|
Parsley grows like a weed. No reason not to grow some in a pot for when you need it.

You forget to water your spice garden?
|
I use it quite a bit.
