Cheap auto shipping?
I was planning on selling my work truck (2000 F-150, 85k, presentable....from 20 feet) before moving to Ohio this summer. But for reasons I cannot explain, my wife has convinced me to keep it. I think its silly, but hey, the seat has my ass print worn into it, and I know everything thats about to go wrong (the known knowns, as opposed to the unknown knowns), so what the hey.
What is the cheapest way to get this beast from Seattle to OH? Its a super cab long bed 4x4. I don't care how long it takes, and I don't care if I have to drive to go pick it up. I do not want it driven. Not at all convinced it would make it. |
HD, try Uship.com. I've used them to ship motorcycles and cars. No problems.

It is good that you decided to keep the truck because after a winter or two in Ohio it will be gone. No sense in rotting out a newer one

Probably not the cheapest, but properly insured and reliable:

Check with some shipping brokers, and you should find someone who needs just one more car to make a full load back east. Just shipped this Unimog to CA from NY for under $1500.

Be careful with those brokers. If anything happens, the shipper and broker point fingers at each other and you are the loser. Case in point, I recently shipped a 1974 911 from CA to TX using a shipper recommended by a friend. Turns out it was a broker and was shipped on an open carrier who drove through a hail storm! The Porsche was on the bottom, so no damage, but it was filthy. Among the dirt was a grease stain on the driver door. Otherwise, car looked great. I signed and drove it home. Once I cleaned it, I found a two inch scratch to metal under that grease stain. They used the grease to hide the damage done during shipping. No one will take responsibility and I signed the shipping documents, so i am out of luck.
Just be careful out there. |
Check with amtrack......not sure if they ship vehicles, but they have a main line that runs from Seattle to NY through Cleveland/Toledo......

Don't use DAS, I paid for enclosed shipping and never got it.

Expensive shipping not as advertised. Weeks later, it arrived with ground-in dirt, a paint chip, softer clutch, and 3m headliner glue melted (sitting in the desert). |
Damn! DAS was who I used for my Porsche shipment and 'greasegate".

White Lightning says $1,000, FYI.

Kaisen got my Z3 shipped from Florida to my door for $1000 but I don't remember the name of the company. I think he put it on line and someone coming this way picked it up to fill up.
