Saving Emails from Outlook...
Any idea how to save emails on an external HD and not have it come up as a short cut?
|
you want to save all of the emails or just individual emails?
If it's individual emails, "File" - "Save As" and then you have your choice of formats, text, html, etc.... That will also allow you to choose where you save them. If you want to save everything in outlook, then you'll need to move your PST file and change the pointer in Outlook to the new location. |
OK - thats what I want to do, how do I go about moving the PST and changing the pointer?
|
Do you want to move your mail or copy it?
Depending on the version of Outlook, it is under the "tools" menu, select "Options" Go to the "Mail Setup" tab and select "Data Files" |
The way I've always done it:
File Import and Export Export to a file Personal Folder File (.pst) Select the folder to export from Save exported file as Finish |
Sounds like that would work pretty well. I don't know how big your PST is or how long it would take. If it works (I've never done it that way, but it sounds reasonable), save the file to where you want it, and then you should be able to tell Outlook to use that file using the info from emcon5.
If you need more specifics, tell us what version of outlook you are using. |
LOL, you turn in your notice and then start copying stuff?
Careful ....... ;) |
Exactly what Sammy said.... Idk about your company, but that would be bad juju if caught where I work...
