WTF Do I do with THESE!?
In the spirit of the "Where to sell a motorcycle" thread...I fig'd I'd ask The Trust.
Why do I have these but am not an Audi S/A5 owner? The Father-In-Law had a spare S5 hangin' around (not kidding) that he finally had someone make an offer on so he let it go. He purchased this winter set-up for a hair over 3k last winter, my BIL used them for 5 months...now here they sit. I am tasked with selling them as the FIL made it clear his time is too valuable, cool by me. But....WHERE? I checked out Audi forums that explicitly say if a "For Sale" is your first post, you'll be deleted/banned. Are they something for Ebay...I've had horrible luck selling anything on Greg's List... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1372712919.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1372712931.jpg |
Try Craig's List this time..........
|
^^Really. Do people who use Craig's List own Audis!? Just kidding...
It always seems people are looking to score half descent goods at ridiculously low prices on CL, at least here in CT. |

These wheels may work great on a VW or two, could quadruple your market.

I buy and sell Porsches on CL all the time. Hell, I sold my Maserati Coupe on there. Wish I had some extra cash and you were closer, if they would fit (no idea) they would look good on my S8.:)
|
Post them on Audizine

eBay is your best bet to get a good audience. Offer to it them on a pallet and strap them down if the buyer wants to use a shipper or just tell them to uship. Probably could sell on Craigslist but its really not a great marketplace.
|
id try them for a while on cl. if they dont sell probrobly the best option is to seperate them. sell the wheels in lots of two on ebay and put the tires on cl come winter

Any idea if they would fit a 2013 Toyota Avalon? Just a long shot.

This is not the best time of year to sell those. Can you wait until Fall and in the meantime put up some posts on that forum? I'm sure you can get a good price as the weather starts to turn.
Maybe you can join the forum just to PM someone or speak with a moderator about what you really want to do. I'm sure many would like to find those wheels. The best thing going for you on CL is that the buyer will be local and pick up with cash. |
I've sold wheels/tires more then a few times. I generally price them for what the wheels are worth and throw in the tires. It would be far cheaper to ship them without the tires but the dismount charge is on you then so its kind of a wash. The first source is calling a local Audi dealership and speak to their parts department and tell them what you have and if any regulars are looking for a set. I actually sold a set to my BMW this way. Worth a phone call.
The second way is Craigslist. It's free and it gets out beyond your city so someone searching will find them. I usually use CL when an items is tough to ship. Of course you will get the dead end calls and deadbeats. The easiest way is to take them to a business you have a relationship with and offer them a few bucks if they sell. I took my last set to my autobody shop and told the owner here's the price and only take cash. No dealing with buyers at my house. The last place would be Ebay. Here you will get your best price if you are patient. If you can work out a shipping charge that doesn't rival the price your selling them, it will pay the best. I usually set an optimum price with a best offer choice and wait until I get what works. |
^^I was wondering about calling dealerships. I'll give that a shot.

Had a random guy call about the wheels Sunday night, came wednesday and haggled me over .7mm of tread depth...YES, Seriously. Paid $1400 cash ...ehh
Also, had a guy call out of the blue on the DirtBike and came for it today. New faith in CL this week |
